In society, there is always a thesis which is the current idea or people that hold power, then there is an antithesis which is the opposition to that idea and then comes the synthesis, where the two fight and one comes out victorious.

A good example is the medieval times - the thesis was the monarchy, the antithesis were the class concious peasants and the synthesis was the revolution
