`On July 27, 2006 ABC News reported that a Colorado energy cooperative, the Intermountain Rural Electric Association, had given Michaels $100,000.[35] An Associated Press report said that the donations had been made after Michaels had "told Western business leaders ... that he was running out of money for his analyses of other scientists' global warming research" and noted that the cooperative had a vested interest in opposing mandatory carbon dioxide caps, a situation that raised conflict of interest concerns.[36]

Michaels said on CNN that 40 percent of his funding came from the oil industry.[37] According to Fred Pearce, fossil fuel companies have helped fund Michaels' projects, including his World Climate Report, published every year since 1994, and his "advocacy science consulting firm", New Hope Environmental Services.[38]

A 2005 article published by the Seattle Times reported that Michaels had received more than $165,000 in fuel-industry funding, including money from the coal industry to publish his own climate journal.[9`]

Is Michaels the guy in the vid?

2020-02-06 20:08:56 UTC

Yea

2020-02-06 20:09:07 UTC

The climatologist

2020-02-06 20:09:11 UTC

Where did you find that quote

2020-02-06 20:09:48 UTC

I know it's wikipedia... But just click thru on the hyperlinks

2020-02-06 20:10:09 UTC

So his incentive is money from oil companies to send their distorted message, while he is apparently qualified in climate science?

2020-02-06 20:10:41 UTC

Like could be true

2020-02-06 20:10:46 UTC

Bribery

2020-02-06 20:10:48 UTC

well He got his degree

2020-02-06 20:10:57 UTC

the bribery likely happened AFTER

2020-02-06 20:11:13 UTC

So what do you believe in climate change?

2020-02-06 20:11:27 UTC

I believe it's true

2020-02-06 20:11:41 UTC

Altho there definitely is some alarmism

2020-02-06 20:13:14 UTC

But there are also tons of people who simply don't care what will happen when they're dead

2020-02-06 20:15:19 UTC

Welcome btw @Tris Haven't seen you here before

2020-02-06 22:16:32 UTC

@everyone BORGAR

2020-02-07 09:51:34 UTC

*sad transforming car noises*

2020-02-07 11:00:03 UTC

climate change has essentially nothing to do with bee decline

2020-02-07 11:00:45 UTC

“Temperatures getting hotter”

2020-02-07 11:00:53 UTC

temperature isn't killing bees

2020-02-07 11:01:27 UTC

> Peter Soroye, a PhD student at the University of Ottawa and the study’s lead author, said: “We found that populations were disappearing in areas where the temperatures had gotten hotter. If declines continue at this pace, many of these species could vanish forever within a few decades.”

2020-02-07 11:01:35 UTC

Lol

2020-02-07 11:01:43 UTC

"temperature isn't killing bees"

2020-02-07 11:01:48 UTC

it's literally not

2020-02-07 11:01:49 UTC

then what is pelth?

2020-02-07 11:01:57 UTC

the varro mite

2020-02-07 11:02:12 UTC

Bad mite!

2020-02-07 11:02:12 UTC

loss of habitat and poor management practices

2020-02-07 11:02:32 UTC

keep in mind they are dying in winter

2020-02-07 11:02:55 UTC

Why the honey bee populations are declining
The largest contributor to the decline of bee health is the varroa mite, a parasite that invades hives and and spreads diseases, McArt said.

"This is really a big knockout blow to a lot of these hives," Mulica said.

Other reasons for the loss in population are loss of habitat and poor management practices, such as moving bees through the frigid Rocky Mountains during their winter journey to California, McArt said.

Incidental exposure to pesticides, pest and other diseases within the hive are also affecting the decrease of the population, Mulica said.

The populations of wild bees and other pollinators are suffering too, McArt said.
