whats the fuel for this?

2020-03-04 08:38:31 UTC

@Dad isopropyl alcohol (91%)

2020-03-04 08:39:05 UTC

boils 500mL water in about 10 minutes in 40°F weather which is good enough for me since I'm a swampfag

2020-03-04 08:39:23 UTC

Does it last long enough? You just make this form and pour it in?

2020-03-04 08:39:36 UTC

seems handy

2020-03-04 08:40:53 UTC

iirc I think about 1.5 fl oz (45mL) of fuel does the trick

2020-03-04 08:41:03 UTC

light a match and wa la

2020-03-04 08:41:13 UTC

hm thats not@much tbh

2020-03-04 08:41:38 UTC

you can throw the whole match in the can if you wanna go <:grug:681710102000173180> mode but it makes more soot that way, and admittedly, it makes a fuckton of soot anyway

2020-03-04 08:41:55 UTC

probably you can sprinkle it with a syringe every once in a while to add it

2020-03-04 08:42:08 UTC

but the smarter thing to do is simply to light it through a vent in the bottom of the base can

2020-03-04 08:42:19 UTC

Hope it momentarily burn and explode though

2020-03-04 08:42:29 UTC

yeah

2020-03-04 08:42:43 UTC

oh yeah it goes FWOOSH if you add like even a few extra drops while it's still burning

2020-03-04 08:43:04 UTC

good and bad

2020-03-04 08:43:09 UTC

just have to be careful

2020-03-05 02:11:24 UTC

not yet

2020-03-14 21:04:51 UTC

I think not even in wuhan when disease was at its top

2020-03-14 21:05:13 UTC

but if shtf you can expect anything

2020-03-14 21:08:35 UTC

powers a concern for me, shitty oil heating and all electric cooking. oil heating req's pump to be run, though I've camping gas stoves and a wood burner. but power loss would suck. 2 x 900w UPS's that'll keep radios powered for a bit.

2020-03-25 10:40:32 UTC

Can you make an effective power supply storage that's connected to a solar panel with like, five or six car batteries?

2020-03-25 10:41:55 UTC

I know that you can buy legit power supplies for that purpose, but I was thinking if during an shtf situation where you've already established a home base and you need electricity without generators

2020-03-25 17:27:17 UTC

Yes, performance won't be as good as dedicated made for the job batts. There are a few other components you need too. Look up off-grid guides as they won't have the grid-tied components. https://sinovoltaics.com/learning-center/off-grid/off-grid-solar-system-components/

I've got a small solar setup that powers my room I'll post some pics shortly
