Like fording rivers or some shit

2020-04-02 16:17:28 UTC

I might be alone in this experience, but the American made Keene boots (specifically the durands) have proven to be extremely versatile in inclimate weather hot and cold.

2020-04-02 16:18:11 UTC

I've always had better experiences with getting wet feet sooner into the 2 day rain storm then drying within an hour of it letting off than getting soaked feet half a day in and then needing to strip the boot off and dry it for 2 hours

2020-04-02 16:18:14 UTC

Salos are based but I've gone through the speedlaces twice already and it's not like I do anything really hard either

2020-04-02 16:18:23 UTC

hm

2020-04-02 16:18:32 UTC

I haven't heard good things about the speed laces yeah

2020-04-02 16:18:38 UTC

They're great until they wear out

2020-04-02 16:19:16 UTC

@Smart Car Driveby actually yeah, it took forever for my goretex boots to dry after I had been stuck out in the rain last time I was in Florida

2020-04-02 16:19:30 UTC

like it was bad and they smelled rank for a while afterwards

2020-04-02 16:19:39 UTC

Because for water to move through goretex it has to be water vapor basically

2020-04-02 16:19:42 UTC

Which means heat

2020-04-02 16:19:51 UTC

Liquid water doesn't move through goretex

2020-04-02 16:19:54 UTC

I fucking swear by durands, but they are a bit heavier then I'd like

2020-04-02 16:20:04 UTC

So liquid water in a goretex boot stays there

2020-04-02 16:20:05 UTC

yeah I had to go through and fucking use a hair dryer

2020-04-02 16:20:13 UTC

just so I could use it the next day

2020-04-02 16:20:40 UTC

That's the eternal downside to goretex boots

2020-04-02 16:20:57 UTC

w2c goretex katana boots

2020-04-02 16:21:13 UTC

That and I find it traps heat more than hot weather boots but that's probably also because hot weather boots are specifically designed to make heat fuck off as much as possible

2020-04-02 16:21:41 UTC

makes sense

2020-04-02 16:22:08 UTC

I only use AR500™️ sabatons and greaves when I hike

2020-04-02 16:22:30 UTC

Do they have truck bed liner too?

2020-04-02 16:26:35 UTC

Naturally

2020-04-02 17:13:23 UTC

I don't like goretex boots at all

2020-04-02 17:14:45 UTC

@5W weigh in on goretex boots

2020-04-02 17:17:33 UTC

He doesn't like them either

2020-04-02 17:17:46 UTC

I know

2020-04-02 17:17:51 UTC

I agree with you on their uses in cold weather and you have a lot more experience than anyone here with that

2020-04-02 17:17:57 UTC

Just wanted to know some reasons why

2020-04-02 17:18:39 UTC

Well wet cold just sucks in general but it's impossible to use dry weather boots there. Snow gets on your boot it melts if the water gets in you're not having a fun time

2020-04-02 17:19:53 UTC

Problem solved hahahaha

2020-04-02 17:20:05 UTC

Yeah and like you said overboots seem shitty to use

2020-04-02 17:20:22 UTC

I think kyu said waterproof sock which is like

2020-04-02 17:20:23 UTC

mega shit

2020-04-02 17:20:37 UTC

yngsr said something about sealskin socks

2020-04-02 17:20:37 UTC

overboots like neos are fine just unreasonable

2020-04-02 17:20:40 UTC

I've never used them

2020-04-02 17:20:58 UTC

wack, there are socks that aren't like plastic tier?

2020-04-02 17:23:01 UTC

It seems like they make different socks with different composition

2020-04-02 17:24:20 UTC

Very interdasting
