I might be alone in this experience, but the American made Keene boots (specifically the durands) have proven to be extremely versatile in inclimate weather hot and cold.

I've always had better experiences with getting wet feet sooner into the 2 day rain storm then drying within an hour of it letting off than getting soaked feet half a day in and then needing to strip the boot off and dry it for 2 hours

Salos are based but I've gone through the speedlaces twice already and it's not like I do anything really hard either

like it was bad and they smelled rank for a while afterwards

Because for water to move through goretex it has to be water vapor basically

Which means heat

Liquid water doesn't move through goretex

I fucking swear by durands, but they are a bit heavier then I'd like

So liquid water in a goretex boot stays there

yeah I had to go through and fucking use a hair dryer

just so I could use it the next day

That's the eternal downside to goretex boots

That and I find it traps heat more than hot weather boots but that's probably also because hot weather boots are specifically designed to make heat fuck off as much as possible

I agree with you on their uses in cold weather and you have a lot more experience than anyone here with that

Well wet cold just sucks in general but it's impossible to use dry weather boots there. Snow gets on your boot it melts if the water gets in you're not having a fun time
