As a layperson regarding trade, what is the difference between NAFTA and USMCA

2020-03-17 01:55:51 UTC

Well, one wasnt signed with a pen that may or may not have been in Monica Lewinski's mouth.

2020-03-17 02:41:21 UTC

Spread this shit. Nowhere near as bad is MSM is saying, they're purposefully trying to bring down the economy and it's obvious as fuck... yet soooo many idiots are falling for it.

2020-03-17 03:26:36 UTC

I'm watching our local news tonight, ABC 7 Chicago 10 PM - standard evening news. everyone is buying into this. there is no doubt in anyone's mind that shutting down our economy like this is the best thing we can do.

2020-03-17 03:28:44 UTC

personally, I am holding my breath, but I feel like this is made out to be something much larger than it is. every year, the flu virus mutates and a new strain washes through society. every 4-5 years, some new crazy strain has come out of this Wuhan lab. we've never shut down our country, and it kills 20-100k people every year through Pneumonia and other complications.

2020-03-17 03:31:44 UTC

the medical industry in the United States has been producing flu vaccines for decades, and they've become popular. every year, they keep track of which strains are new and which are resurgent. they weigh the pros and cons and decide, strategically, what it's best to innoculate people against. they produce the vaccines, typically dead or dying flu cells which can give you a mild case of the flu, but causes your body to produce antibodies that protect you from those strains throughout the entire flu season.

2020-03-17 03:32:13 UTC

they give out these shows in october, november... because flu season is from then until it warms up

2020-03-17 03:32:29 UTC

so along comes COVID-19, right after they release the shot.

2020-03-17 03:33:12 UTC

dammit, the timing of that.

2020-03-17 03:34:01 UTC

anyways, I think this isn't going to be much more than a normal flu. however, since we're all sheltering-in-place and shutting down, far less people will die.

2020-03-17 03:34:13 UTC

we could do this every 4-5 years and save lives

2020-03-17 03:34:24 UTC

every time China releases another one of these things....

2020-03-17 03:35:00 UTC

anyways, what I am struck by, is Trump's masterstroke here.

2020-03-17 03:35:08 UTC

he gives the media what they want, shuts down the country.

2020-03-17 03:35:16 UTC

he saves a lot of lives.

2020-03-17 03:35:25 UTC

(20k-100k, down to 500-1k?)

2020-03-17 03:35:33 UTC

for what a normal bad flu season would do

2020-03-17 03:36:08 UTC

and in the meantime, we have tens of millions of people, all around the country, innovating and coming up with new ways of doing things.

2020-03-17 03:36:39 UTC

my doctor texted me this morning, apparently they can now do tele-medicine. so if I feel sick at all, he can skype me or whatever they use.

2020-03-17 03:37:30 UTC

Amazon is hiring delivery people. food service delivery like uber eats, door dash, and that other one... there's going to be a huge spike in demand.

2020-03-17 03:38:07 UTC

but there's also people like me - starting a brand new online business where I used to work in an office.

2020-03-17 03:38:26 UTC

how many others are doing this? re-evaluating their options and deciding to try something new?
