There are numerous statistics that show single mothers cannot handle the task of providing for their children, so they more commonly rely on government assistance. Additionally, their children are more prone to crime.

If a child is to be raised, it should be raised under a married household. It's much easier for that type of family structure to provide for its children.

I didn't say they aren't. I've had to live in two battered women's shelter throughout my life and it's not people who are 'degenerate' needing help. There are a number of reasons why they end up here. The focus needs to be put more on the cause of the reason. While welfare helps, again it's more of a bandaid and less of a treatment.

This would incentivize marriage, which is clearly a necessary component for a normal childhood. It's much harder to lift people from poverty if you continue to encourage self-destructive behavior.

Assistance is abused mostly by minority neighborhoods, especially in inner cities. We've seen how inefficient government programs are harmful to family structure, especially combined with dangerous cultural elements that are common in inner cities.
