Iraqveteran8888 is another good one <https://www.youtube.com/user/Iraqveteran8888>

2018-09-28 21:36:27 UTC

Honest Outlaw and Nutnfancy on Youtube are also good reviewers

2018-09-28 21:36:40 UTC

I assume they have BitChute backups or something?

2018-09-28 21:36:52 UTC

The two that I mentioned do.

2018-09-28 21:36:52 UTC

Youtube has been purging, as I understand.

2018-09-28 21:37:09 UTC

Not entirely.

2018-09-28 21:37:23 UTC

I don't really like Nutnfancy too much. I don't like the tough guy act.

2018-09-28 21:38:41 UTC

Nutnfancy tends to be real long winded, but he does take the firearms out and tests them as if he is using them in real life.

2018-09-28 21:39:45 UTC

That and he will update his reviews as things develope down the road.

2018-09-28 21:59:05 UTC

Thanks for the advice.

2018-09-28 21:59:58 UTC

no problem.

2018-09-28 22:28:28 UTC

Nutnfancy is a faget

2018-09-29 01:57:05 UTC

That reminds me pratel: don't buy a 1911.

2018-09-29 01:57:17 UTC

Also don't buy Serpa holsters

2018-09-29 01:57:34 UTC

I learned that one the hard way.

2018-09-29 01:57:59 UTC

Buy a (not cheap) AR-15 and a Glock 17 or 19

2018-09-29 01:58:21 UTC

They're boring because they're ubiquitous and they're ubiquitous because they work

2018-09-29 02:38:16 UTC

Wait, what's wrong with a 1911? I thought that was the classic pistol.

2018-09-29 02:38:19 UTC
2018-09-29 02:40:32 UTC

Biggest reason is capacity. Average 1911 has a 7+1 capacity. A full size 9mm can have double that.
Second reason is reliability. Getting a modern construction 1911 to work reliably is not a simple matter.
Third is ammo. 9mm is simply more widely available. Also you will have additional reliability problems with hollow point .45

2018-09-29 02:41:19 UTC

Weight and size are also considerations. You can get compact 1911s but again, reliability becomes an issue. As does aftermarket parts.

2018-09-29 02:42:04 UTC

If you want one for the history, or the aesthetics, or for spending a bunch of dough on for competition shooting there's nothing wrong with them.

2018-09-29 02:42:23 UTC

But if you want one for defense, you're not making a good choice.

2018-09-29 02:43:15 UTC

The people who still advocate 1911s for carry and defense are 60+, and they're doing it because it was their pappy's pistol.

2018-09-29 02:43:22 UTC

The ideal 1911 is a Hi-Power

2018-09-29 02:43:40 UTC

(Double-stack 9mm)

2018-09-29 02:43:52 UTC

I have a fair bit of experience with Hi-Powers and they're a definite upgrade from 1911. Still obsolete.

2018-09-29 02:44:04 UTC

Obsolescent

2018-09-29 02:44:15 UTC

Heavy, and do not stand up well to any kind of sand or grit.

2018-09-29 02:45:21 UTC

When clean and with good mags they are extremely reliable however.

2018-09-29 02:46:39 UTC

Mag safety is annoying if you get one that still has it.

2018-09-29 02:48:16 UTC

Magazine safety is less annoying if you have a backup gun

2018-09-29 02:48:36 UTC

Yeah, the 1911 is a classic, and it probably will work fine for whatever you need it for, but it's still over a 100 year old design. Improvements have been made in that time whether you think they were needed or not.

2018-09-29 02:51:07 UTC

As an example, a Glock 17 weighs 10% less than a BHP but holds 2 more rounds. 1911 weighs 10% more than the BHP.

2018-09-29 02:52:37 UTC

Not that I'm advocating Glocks, but it's a ubiquitous modern pistol.

2018-09-29 03:20:34 UTC

In the grand scheme of things, handguns don't matter. The only reason people carry them is because it's impractical to conceal an AR-15.

2018-09-29 03:21:00 UTC

Find one you can use effectively and stick with it
