Don't look to get some high tech $1000 handgun that is some tactical bullshit. Just get a decent 9mm with good capacity that you are comfortable practicing on at a range. The main issue is that most people don't train with their weapon and then they choke when it comes down to it.

Though if you are gonna get a tacticool cun, get a Hudson H9 😏

Okay so that's what makes it special. That's a spring compartment. On a regular slide kind of handgun, the springs are all above the trigger in the slide. The thing that Mr and Mrs Hudson wanted to do was lower the bore axis of the gun, so they had to move the spring in front of the trigger guard

what does that mean

This is a 1911. That checkered circle is where the recoil spring is. It's above the receiver. A bore axis is how much off the barrel is from your grip on the gun. On most hand guns the barrel is a decent amount above your grip, and that causes recoil that whips your hand upwards because of torque. The lower the barrel, the more closely it recoils in line with your arm so the recoil just goes straight into your hand so there's less barrel flipping in the recoil
