it's lemmings behavior
Y'all arguin?!
The word's meaning has changed a lot over the years. Some people are convinced it just means an image with text. When was the last time you heard the term 'image macro' though?
一般人がいっぱい
meme means an idea
it's a consept
Yes I just said that's the word's literal meaning
the usage of image macros is just because in 4chan you post images
and it was the easy way to spread them
there's text memes since forever too
well we're talking in the context of real life memeing which has more to do with expressions and behavior
Not sure what the point you're trying to make here is Belial.
expressions are usually community specific
Has anyone really been far as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
lol i like that one
All your base are belong to us!
the classics
today I learned the swastika meme in Asia
卍・まんじ
it's used for "cool" "powerful" and "posing for photos"
I think a meme is only really a meme while it grows and lives and is recontextualized, what I posted doesn't really count as a meme, as I'm doing nothing to recontextualize the idea. it's merely a reference
reversed it's usually used for "sexy"
Funnily enough language is a meme which is why the word meme has been able to evolve as new uses for it were found to be useful.
in that case it's the only useful meme i can think of
Memes as the term was originally intended are the genes of culture.
ewwwww.
"Genes of culture"
Ewwwwwwww
You actually said that eewwwwww
i'm not a big fan of culture, except when i agree with it
That's the simplest way to describe it as conceptualized by Richard Dawkins.
could there theoretically be a society without a culture?
Basically the thinking is that ideas that get spread throughout society, and useless and harmful ideas are discarded and useful ones are kept and improved upon, so our ideas go through a process of natural selection
I guess a society could exist without a dominant or unifying culture, but that would just mean plenty of subcultures
i guess
On the subject of memetics, reminder that Kojima was a prophet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKPDaiJTX9M
thats some interesting narrative and points, but some of the conclusions give me cancer, probably mostly intended to support whatever the story is
It's a bit more esoteric than MGS, but the 1983 cult classic Videodrome is eerily accurate on a lot of points, only it's predictions were for TV, not Internet
havent seen that one in a long time, might rewatch with that perspective
If you're talking about the conclusion of the dudes on the left they're the bad guys.
