Maybe I missed something? Is the usaage of chairperson obligatory or something now?
Because here's the answer:
it's not obligitory but I'm afraid of the consequences of intentionally using it here on campus
like doing it once, "hey that's not nice"
but if I keep doing it, I'd expect to actually get in trouble for it
They get their foot in the door
Subtly implying something
You go long enough saying "chairman" instead, they start looking around at each other
"Hmph. Troublemaker."
And they can do a bunch of things you can NEVER PROVE IN COURT that they're doing.
we also don't say freshman here
we say first year
The universities are a fucking echo chamber.
when I asked about, they said something along the lines of "freshperson is too bulky"
I feel like the problem here is not 'chairperson' but some people who want to bully you.
All they need to agree on is to hate you, and they can conspire in ways that don't even require communicating with each other.
"Chairperson" is a germ. It's not the source of the germs, but it's a germ.
ELIMINATE GERMS
Be a goddamn scrubbing bubble you piece of shit.
because a small percentage of our student body is mentally ill, the whole campus has to go along with their stupid game
@LEER That's exactly it. It's not about what is being said , it's the fact that they made you say it.
"one person was offended, now everyone must repent"
Maybe I am wrong. But why can't we just call them chair :D
Doing what they tell you to do
Is a sign of ZERO PUSHBACK
Gamergate did the first thing no one else did.
"Nah."
"Won't be toleratin' that"
you're not wrong Libet
I call them "the chair"
because that's what everyone around me says
That's a compromise though.
And why would you compromise with people who aren't gonna stop.
life will present you a ceaseless and constant set of changing envirnments that will test your ability to remain calm and right the world aorund you to better reflect what you think it should be. in this example you have lots of sjws trying to change the language your ment to use. if you just let them get away with it then they wont stop, if you attack them you may lose by justifying there perception of you or win and become the monster you seek to defeat. the answer is to defend yourself and stay concrete in what changes you will accept and act as an example of others to reflect what you think should and shouldent change about the world
I've been saying chair without realizing it, only found this "chairperson" stuff Wednesday
I don't see why I should care for caring's sake
the issue is petty but the greater implication is serious
Bunch of conspiracy theories.
it shows that they're willing to change language to avoid offending a few people
