You really think someone is going to put their life on the line over aesthetics?
Fllly me to the moooon
People depended on those weapons for generations
uwu swords
*katanas were only ever used to kill unarmored peasants, change my mind*
so you're saying they were useful?
There's something to be said for Japan's lack of expirimentation and strict traditionalism, but they're fine weapons
yes
fine given the resources they had
No, just fine in general.
you think this was the most efficient armor design out there, and that sacrifices weren't made for the sake of aesthetics?
japan is fine with weaponry until they try to make a nambu hehe
I never said it was the best armor out there.
>You really think someone is going to put their life on the line over aesthetics?
yes
I do believe that
because when I look at the armor they wore
it's pretty clear to me sacrifices in weight, protection, visibility, etc. were made in favor of aesthetics
little known fact: samurais were equally archers as they were swordsmen
yup
I'm not educated enough in Japanese warfare to know why they made their armor as they do. I am however educated enough to know that you aren't either
also spears
*spears*
pointy stick, tried and true
Spears were the king of the battlefield no question there
spears sort of fall under polearms, and yeah
Any weapon on a pole is a polearm
Except maybe handgonnes
birdman is based
schedrevka id pat u bigtime
welcome me to the world where people know they don't always know better
that's a fairytale, you're too old for those
the only thing people become too old for is daipers
what about *really* old people
really old people are the inversion of babies and thus not relevant in this comparison
huehuhuehuehueehue
Although one thing I didn't get the chance to mention about that armor is that it's a nanban cuirass. Nanban essentially meaning barbarian. They bought that from some merchant who traveled from the west.
