Citizens of the ottoman empire referred to themselves as Rūmī ( or Romans). And to the ottomans, it was referred to as Empire of Rûm which was empire of rome in Ottoman Turkish.

Turkish people really do irritate me as they do not understand mere genetics. We have body's of Scythians,Sarmatians,Alans and other Indo-European peoples. Not only that Turks do have Genetic Similarity to us because of interbreeding. We as Caucasians do not descended from Turks, we descended from pure blooded Yamnya ancestry. Though these Turks claim to be "Scythians" While that is not true as they are a Mixed race born of both East Asian and Indo-European Genetics. Not only that these "Turks" Usually don't point out we have Scythians still around today.
