the reason trump picked up PA, MI, and WI was because blacks didn't turn out for hillary
but clearly they like biden a lot better
enough to comfortably give him states that went to bernie in the primary, like Oklahoma
this black support can also give him states like North Carolina or Indiana, which went to Obama back in 2008 when the demographic situation wasn't as bad
biden is a much tougher matchup for trump than hillary
trump's only advantage now compared to 2016 is that he has the full support of the republican party and electorate, which he lacked back then
but realistically that'll just give him a better margin in places like Utah or Orange County, which are irrelevant anyway
I wouldn't assume Trump will be able to mobilize people as well as last time

It's still a toss up depending on if Biden's Alzheimers shows through in the presidential debate
I think trump would be able to grab up more of the white working class vote than biden would but I don't think trump's base would be as mobilized as it was in 2016 because his presidency was honestly disappointing
it will be an interesting election to say the least

That's why the white vote is so key to swing states, it's because "moderate" (read: unengaged) whites vote for whoever convinces them in the moment. They don't have deeper principles and could go either way
Not so with minorities or conservative whites, who are consistent in their sides

My thoughts are that it's a perfect example of why democracy, even the representative republican sort of democracy, is illegitimate
Even in a system like ours that tries to negate majoritarianism, entire states are still ruined by a few counties with 51% of the population in them
But I hope they go through with it, it will shake things up and help normalize the idea that the current state borders are impermenant and can/should be changed
