but never outright say "Yeah, government is a vehicle for change, that can be abused or used well"
I think the "right wingers, even if they have beliefs that result in big government, just cannot admit that fact" definitely checks those boxes.
@DrocsidInReverse **While someone like me can recognize the utility of the state and its organization as merely a vehicle, which can certainly be abused but also can serve as a means to good ends at least, the Right views the size and scope of this vehicle as the political spectrum itself. They may be fine with Social Security and Medicare, which is funny because that's not libertarian but once you say “We need a powerful state that would fix university curriculum which is dominated by leftism, promote the nuclear family through monetary and social incentives, and to end immigration”, they might have the reaction of “Whoa whoa. Settle down there. You don’t need to pay for other people's children. That's socialism and when I was in my 20s, raising a family was cheap and college is a ripoff anyway. Also, we need LEGAL immigration, just not illegal immigration!” **
This is about drag queen story hour for context
I see the surge in popularity of libertarianism in the early 2010's as the darkness before the dawn.
To what?
What is this dawn? When is it going to happen? How is it going to happen?
A renaissance of reactionary ideas.
Nobody is aware of anything true, they haven’t been for years and years, always sure that their vote will change things, always sure that whoever is in power *is in power*
@DrocsidInReverse It will not resurge
Most people are too flawed to be reactionaries
in any era of history
Most people don’t even want to be reactionaries
The very nature of the word itself makes it a hard ideology to aspire to be
But heres the thing
They don’t want things to change, they don’t want anything like authority or fascism to resurge, they want their freedom and their cushy lives where everyone’s equal and life is happy
They wouldn't care if we were in power
Because our society would be a beacon of light and they wouldn't be in the horrible state of the neoliberal western world right now
Just force it on them. Most would be unwilling to fight
Now, getting the power to do so would be hard
But the chief executive and bueracracy are extrememly powerful
All you have to do
is pull a Palpatine
Or an Adolf, if you have enough might behind you
But even then
@Salvation_Crucifix Orban did it
That’s not likely
@Salvation_Crucifix I think the issue is that the American Government was designed to not do anything
It was intentionally made hard to use
But honestly that’s the only way I can see us keeping and holding power and the change we want to see effected
And thats quite badly suited to our environment
Unless our reactionary beliefs can become popular and “infect” the other conservative groups to go back to their roots
Because democracy is still in effect, and if the people, or the elite, get tired of us, they can throw us out
@Salvation_Crucifix Its not about taking power democratically
Its about pretending to be a shitlib bildeberg elite
and getting enough power that you can betray everyone
I hate the idea that we should be overt about our intentions
childrens minds are plastic
what does it mean to not indoctrinate kids into a socio poltical mindset or whatever
