looking at the death toll in the US right now, it is about 30% of the average yearly flu death rate, which is quite variable

however it seems obviously that this could easily surpass that if no non-pharmaceutical interventions take place, which would not be good.

an additional 100,000 deaths could occur easily, and ofc this has snowballing effects via taking up health resources and other effects
