The Fel Empire was basically a Light Sided Empire.

It had essentially an Inquisition, a light side order that pledged loyalty to the Emperor, called the Imperial Knights.

They allied with the One Sith, a strange Sith Cult led by Darth Krayt, against the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. They were deceived however and Darth Krayt usurped the throne. Later the heir to the Fel Empire would team up with what remained of the Republic and the Jedi Order and created a triumvirate after defeating Darth Krayt.

I think the simplistic notion that the Empire were the good guys is kind of dumb. I think both the Republic and Empire were systematically flawed and only the Empire lead by a non psychopath, like Pellaeons Empire, could work

Also, Palpatine isn't as powerful as someone like Vitiate or Naga Sadow

Sadow I believe ripped the core out of a star and caused it to go nova
