The Old Republic was fine IMO

But quite frankly, the Jedi were based pre Ruusan

Well I’m starting to like the Empire these days

@Salvation_Crucifix 1000-2000 years before the Battle of Yavin, the Sith had basically been at war with the Republic for so long the Republic could not afford to defend most of its systems outside the core worlds. Eventually, some rebellious Jedi decided to become Jedi Lords, essentially monarchs with inherited titles who would defend systems from the Sith using legions of Jedi Knights. They had their own council, called the Grand Council, which competed directly with the High Council and they would own entire planets or systems as kings and would pass titles down to their children

The Jedi were based before the Ruusan Reformation which stripped the Jedi of their titles and made them essentially slaves to the Republic

I accept the theory that although Palpatine primarily created the Empire for his own personal power and gain, he had a secondary motivation for militarizing the galaxy against the Yuuzhan Vong

The Republic was scattered and decentralized, squabbling and inefficient

The Empire was a brutal extension of Palpatine’s will

A military complex that could take on the coming invasion without the need of senators and the slowness of politics

I think the Imperial Remnant was better morally

So, I prefer Thrawn and Pellaeon to Palpatine Vader and Tarkin

I always liked the Empire compared to the Rebels. I thought the Rebels were losers who wanted to bring a decaying system back.

The Empire would’ve fared better if he had a system of succession

Someone to keep it going in the event of his death

It’s noted that it was directly reliant on his will, and once he perished, the Empire fell apart and faced a civil war

the new republic would have had interspecies marriage within a decade

The New Republic in EU is very decentralized

it greatly reduced taxes, millitary spending and eliminated conscription

Is that why they got trashed by the Yuuzhan Vong so badly they had to reform as the Galactic Federation
