Some retain some Genetic markers from that of Celtic migrations.

2020-04-21 22:55:18 UTC

But it is quite sad to see Galatia lose it's culture all those centuries ago.

2020-04-21 22:55:49 UTC

i dont completely remember the story

2020-04-21 22:56:09 UTC

some Greek elite called celtic mercenaries to overthrow someone

2020-04-21 22:56:39 UTC

either they lost or they were given land

2020-04-21 22:57:02 UTC

Probably the latter.

2020-04-21 22:57:27 UTC

no i mean, they either lost and became subjects there or given land

2020-04-21 22:57:38 UTC

That's what i meant.

2020-04-21 22:57:40 UTC

Given land.

2020-04-21 22:58:01 UTC

More than likely they didn't have enough money to pay the Mercanarys so they gave them land.

2020-04-21 22:58:51 UTC

And honestly when it comes down to Celt's, Many tribes didn't aceapt payment in terms of money or wealth but in terms of land.

2020-04-21 22:59:38 UTC

smart

2020-04-21 23:03:10 UTC

On the other hand, Germanic/Slavic people's did not use that strategy. Being on average more war like than the Celtic peoples, Overtook the other people's with shear force of there migrations.

2020-04-21 23:03:58 UTC

And on average Germanic/Slavic people's migrations lasted longer. Raiding and pillaging on average more than the later.

2020-04-21 23:12:09 UTC

Poles, Ukrainians, Belorussians, and Russians are all genetically extremely similar and cluster very close on PCA charts. Czechs and Slovaks have some sort of pre-Slavic Celto-Germanic substratum, meanwhile the South Slavs are genetically the least Slavic. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4558026/

2020-04-21 23:12:50 UTC

Mhm.

2020-04-21 23:13:08 UTC

yeah that sounds exactly like what common sense would tell you

2020-04-21 23:13:24 UTC

Within reality i wouldn't be remise to state that Poland has some the Highest R1A ratio's within the Slavic world.

2020-04-21 23:14:38 UTC

50% when it comes to the main area within Poland such as Krakow-Lublin-Warsaw area.

2020-04-21 23:15:03 UTC

"sorbs" always reads to me like some doge meme making fun of slavs

2020-04-21 23:15:08 UTC

It’s either the Proto-Slavs replaced the Polish Iron Age population, or the Polish Iron Age population was genetically similar to the Proto-Slavs.

2020-04-21 23:15:27 UTC

Genetically similar is the best explaination.

2020-04-21 23:15:42 UTC

im about if anyone else is

2020-04-21 23:16:11 UTC

be in general chat

2020-04-21 23:16:22 UTC

Alright.

2020-04-21 23:17:28 UTC

wti

2020-04-21 23:17:35 UTC

I mean, Poland is close enough to the proto-slavic homeland that it probably doesn't make a difference either way

2020-04-21 23:17:47 UTC

The Area which many Western Slavic nations sit were in reality empty. Minus some Germanic/Celtic tribes still lingering near by.

2020-04-21 23:17:58 UTC

@Skeleton what are the genetics of south slavs then

2020-04-21 23:18:37 UTC

Damn Turks...

2020-04-21 23:19:02 UTC

*South Slavs almost got replaced by Tatars*.

2020-04-21 23:19:04 UTC

I've heard the Suebi were routinely killing off ppl in modern Poland/eastern Europe turning it into a no man's land

2020-04-21 23:19:20 UTC

So makes sense it was empty pre Huns

2020-04-21 23:19:57 UTC

The Hun's had forced many out. Within reality Germanic people had fled those regions for almost a century by then.

2020-04-21 23:20:21 UTC

Slav's merely seeing a mixture of weakness in the South and to the West pushed out.

2020-04-21 23:20:36 UTC

*And do i mean pushed*.

2020-04-21 23:21:14 UTC

@vexmasina44 South Slavs mostly descend from Bronze and Iron Age Balkan populations, but have some Proto-Slavic DNA. Slovenes are likely the most Slavic of the South Slavs, meanwhile Bulgars or Macedonians are the least Slavic.

2020-04-21 23:21:42 UTC

*God Macedonians*

2020-04-21 23:21:59 UTC

They are an intresting Gentic look at.

2020-04-21 23:21:59 UTC

@Mr. Nessel someone sent me that sargoy vid

2020-04-21 23:22:07 UTC

somewhat decent actually
