A lot of these stances are old as fuck
>madchatter: because destroying something is a way to control it
Learned that from Paul Atreides.
It's just that people like to destroy all nuance and present something in pure us vs them terms
Dave Rubin is just about the most G-rated family friendly guy imaginable. The only remotely controversial thing you could say about him is that he's willing to talk to anyone.
And that then causes people to think of themselves as being part of a dichotomous conflict
If the SJWs & commies would actually be willing to talk to people like Rubin they might be able to actually humanize themselves but as it stands they just come off as pod people.
They cant afford to have reasonable discussions with people as it might cause their acolytes to lose faith in the cause
@TylerC >have their OWN youtube con
Wasn't that tried and it failed because someone tried to force a code of conduct with speech restrictions?
not sure
i guess milo's berkley even miiight count
but i would see this as needing to be away from a college campus
similar to the vidcon
just with only the "undesirables" that youtube is trying to shit on
if someone hosts it, people will show up
It could work but the people organizing and backing it would have to be 100% free speech advocates who don't care about controversy.
agreed
Someone independently wealthy who doesn't give a fuck.
100% they would get targeted
not sure who would be able to pull it off other than maybe peter tiel or someone of that level
just someone on that level is all i mean
same
i dont think he would care enough about it to organize it, but i could be wrong
would almost say have the NRA try to put it together
but not sure if that might automatically screw the event
but it would bring out all the freedom of speechers and the gun owners to see what in the hell is up
it's a possibility, but people who support the NRA and people who support freedom of speech aren't entirely overlapping. while most have died of old age, there are plenty of bible-thumper paleocons out there who wouldn't want to be associated with some of the folk on *the list*
I hang out on AR15.com a lot and they're split roughly 50/50 over this social media censorship stuff.
you arent wrong there, and vice versa, buuuut, it would be a hell of a show to say, we can all stand together for our rights
i find that interesting about the ar15.com forums, but not overly surprising
it wasnt too long ago the calls for censorship were from the right
Their argument is a pretty typical conservative stance of "it's a free market", "private businesses should be able to do whatever they want", "just build your own" etc. Applying boilerplate ideological answers without deeper investigation of the problem.
agreed
we are getting that from both sides currently

Cringy intro, not shocking content.
