they needed a scandal to delay until hopefully the November vote rolled around and they could get enough votes to block him

not gonna work against a party that spent 8 years in the dog house

what they needed were senators and reps to defect and no one was going to do that so they could appear to be siding with the democrats

So they created a scandal by withholding the allegations and turning it into a circus with two goals - delay the vote and swing public opinion against kav
