i havent done it in forever, you put the firmware file on the root of a flash drive, go into the bios and look for the flash option

Ah good, I keep hearing about how you might need to flash the bios for some motherboards for some CPUs and it worried me

if its not immediately compatible, yes. check the compatibility tables before you buy

you do need a compatible CPU to boot into the bios to flash it for a newer CPU
