haha DFK
So, I take it people live in very insular communities?
Or have you heard?
I'm not honestly sure... it's been 20 years since I was there. It was still apartheid when I was there
the only black person I knew was our maid
but of course that was a different time
So you came from a wealthy family?
nope, it was common for white families to have maids
wealthy or not
we lived in an apartment
Ah
I can tell you that there is a generational gap in how my cousins see blacks... my older cousins in their 40s have a much more negative attitude than my younger cousin in her 20s
I would really like to go back and visit before my dad's generation dies, but I don't know if I will. Probably not
Skin color does not determine agenda, intelligence, etc.
(Sorry, wrong chat)
haha I figured
I'm reading an artical on CNN about white communities in South Africa.
that's the town I lived last
did you read about Orania?
and they try to say that Whites still live very 'privilaged' lives with low unemployment and less deaths due to crime
(Yes, that)
I JUST learned about Orania! Like two weeks ago!
It is the communities, people they surround themselves with and ideals that seperate people.
CNN was saying that about Orania?
Only bad things, I assure you.
yeah, as far as I know, Orania is the only town like that.
as far as being 100% white
My dad didn't even know about Orania
"Obviously there is a problem with violence,"
Ah
and he goes back to visit SA every couple of years
It's in an area that's less travled.
google maps says it's 8.5 hours from where my dad's family lives
I don't think I would mind living there to be honest
It has strict rules.
Which is good for any society that wishes to be left alone.
Outsiders that don't cohere to those rules are kicked out.
well, I used to want to be Amish, lol
Black people should learn from how Afrikaners went from poor whites to economic prosperity
