For a variety of FOSS and some non FOSS programs
I love foss software
it helps me loads when working and writing software of my own
So you could be extra lazy, and have a script that installs to powershell, and then a script that sets up your software, rather than manually install from a browser or keep a list of URLs
Or just use apt
Tbh if it wasn't for DX I'd be on Linux already
if you're on a debian based system
Right but this is for Windows
True
Except the installers, accepting agreements, etc
can't usually do that automatically
Iirc I didn't have to handle shit when using chocolatey
But I haven't used it in a while because it's more novelty than utility rn
it might be useful for businesses
or people who reinstall windows a lot
Eh, most enterprise level stuff would just use desired state configuration or imaging or something
True
I don't see why businesses still use windows anymore, other than legacy software support
Windows is honestly bad for businesses, due to its bad security
Easy to use, most enterprise software works with it, industry standard, your employees know how it works
Microsoft also has decent office applications and will host your shit if you don't have the server capacity
>switch to OSX
Why even bother?
From OSX
Because OSX supports nothing
Oh sorry
Np
Yeah read that backwards
Also, using msoffice 360 is a bad idea for business info in my opinion
Yeah Windows 7 or 10 is a huge functionality upgrade over OSX lol. I've had to use both for work
since then you trust important stuff to ms
Everyone hates it at the office
Most smaller companies have worse security tbh
Man just like, browsing to a folder is a chore
Why would we need security?
That's why they should start out with something like Linux Mint, Ubuntu, or Fedora
Then they can get used to it
and do stuff better
Idk what other companies do, but all we do is stay on like 2 sites
Mostly where enterprise Linux comes in is like OpenSUSE and RHEL
Yeah
