“All who sin are slaves to sin” means: the fact that you commit a sin brings to light that you are obeying a master who rules over you. He is the master of sin, every sin you commit is the result of an order he gives. Because you are not free but are his property, you are forced to execute his command to sin. Sinning is not a choice of yours, but the execution of your masters will. The fact that we recognize in ourselves that sinning is not something we really want to do, is also evidence of a knowledge that we were formerly living and acting out differently. We were executing righteous and good acts on command . We have in truth been initially created to live an existence that only lives out good and righteous and pleasing acts. The only way to come out of this fallen state is, when our initial master steps in, pays for our release and thus owns us again. We were never intended to be our own masters. We
