I think that the new deal (and hoover's policies, as being de-facto just softer version of it) only worsened the depression, IMHO, alongside with very incompetent actions of the Federal Reseve. Without these things it would be wayyyy shorter

Also, the fact that we pulled out of the depression in early 40s very much tied with the beginning of WW2 and us selling weapons to allies, which was one of the good things FDR did, we both got a lot of money and helped to defeat Hitler's plague
