I shoot on 2 competition teams and shoot around 75-100 rounds for the shotgun team and around 150-250 for the steel team every week during the season.

If you buy ar500 don't take off the protecting spall coat because that is what is helping stop the spalling. Also if you buy it try dipping it in truck bed coating it can help catch the fragments when the bullet hits.

I would just save up and buy some HESCO plates though. There lighter and won't send bullet fragments into your neck and head.

I think you are right on the coating possibly being bed liner.

Hesco does have any expiration date (5-7 years I think) but they are lighter and catch the bullet instead of sending the shards everywhere.

Yeah I've gotten lead stuck in my arm before from steel target plates it hurts like hell.

But they don't always work the bullet tends to just slight between the plate and the coating then come out into your arms, legs, or neck.

Yeah for hesco armor I would buy it from t-rex arms I have heard they are a good company that stands behind there products.

The thing with ar500 is that it isn't NIJ certified either so the military and law enforcement won't use it which is a big turn off for me personally.

I would buy the ar500 level 4 plates because they are ceramic. I personally just wouldn't buy the steel stuff because it's heavy and bullets fragment to easily.

That's just the warranty period the can last longer as long as they stay dry which they should sense there wrapped.

They are waterproof so out of all the ceramic plates these would probably last the longest. I understand I am pinching pennies to be able to buy a car in the spring so I can get to work.

This is the difference between double and single stack.

Most people tend to go with either a double stack Glock like a 26, 19, or a single stack Glock like the 43,43x,or 48.
I personally like the Glock 19 because it is one of the more common Glocks and is more comfortable to shoot then the 26. But I also have never shot a single stack Glock because I prefer a 1911 when it comes to single stacks.

For a fighting gun I go with a Glock they're tough as nails and hold a lot of ammo now for recreation and fun nothing beats a 1911.
