@RentalCleric my advice would be to start with a 20ga of Ether a **Remington 870 Express** or a **Mossberg 500**

Both are popular shotguns and will last a awhile

As for the Desert Tech MDR, I'm not a fan of most bullpup rifles, with the exception of the Kel-tech RFB & AUG A3

Mp5 would be a better choice, than a mp7 because of availability. Plus I'm fairly sure there no mp7 in semiauto..u would need a class 3 license to own one
