Chinese fabless cpu manufacturer, joint venture between Taiwanese (formerly American) company VIA technologies and the Shanghai municipal government

Via used to be one of the few companies besides AMD and Intel to license and create x86 architecture cpus

AMD was licensing some parts of their ryzen 1 architecture to them but pulled out in June

Now, they're projecting to be making almost identically specced CPUs to the ryzen lineup on a 7 nm process by 2021 when they're currently only able to make 16nm

Intel is at 14nm right now and is having issues getting down to 10nms after many delays
