My experience when determining the legitimacy of a theory such as the BBC one above, is to look at the agenda and interests of the alleged perpetrators. Is it in the media head's best interest to suppress certain stories? If so, why? A likely answer is that they are pro-EU, and the French protests and the way in which the authorities have been handling them do NOT represent the EU in a remotely positive light. If they start sending in EU troops to quell the riots, well that is an especially bad sight, and they would certainly not want it reported on if their agenda demanded as much

@AdorableStormtrooper definitely. And they do have the means and resources to stifle that reporting. Not to mention, these European countries have easier legal means of suppressing speech in the name of "safety." It's only common sense that these establishment heads would act that way

That's the entire purpose of the EU. It is centralized, unelected (by everyday European people), with the desire to make decisions for puppet states without their say, and if anyone tries to leave (Brexit), they'll threaten to cripple their economy through extortion-esque anti-trade rhetoric
