Only way to keep society from spiraling out of control is to Educate on truth and allow the free exchange of ideas in the public domain. Without free exchange, how can people can convince each other something is wrong or show the truth to those in echo chambers? By placing people in tribes, you lead to conflicting ideologies and people end up embolden to use violence against each other.

2018-08-22 01:25:39 UTC [Subverse #general]

That is just my take on things.

2018-08-22 01:26:21 UTC [Subverse #general]

Echo chambers leads to tribal mentality, where one group won't listen to the other and they are more willing to use violence to solve their problems.

2018-08-22 01:27:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

I blame twitter and other medias, for forcing people into echo chambers on social media, thus in turn further entrenching tribalism which is lead to more violent conflicts between people.

2018-08-22 01:27:38 UTC [Subverse #general]

Social justice and identity politics did push the social medias to this.

2018-08-22 01:28:00 UTC [Subverse #general]

Twitter just further entrenches it.

2018-08-22 01:28:04 UTC [Subverse #general]

What I am saying.

2018-08-22 01:28:12 UTC [Subverse #general]

They are making the problem so much more worse.

2018-08-22 01:29:21 UTC [Subverse #general]

I am saying the community orgs today are "FORCING" people into echo chambers, which leads to them being exposed to identity politics without any counter argument to persuade them from following those politics.

2018-08-22 01:30:09 UTC [Subverse #general]

You don't conform to my ideology and you are making people offended, therefor you are banned from this thread.

2018-08-22 01:30:27 UTC [Subverse #general]

No one wants to engage and debate, to thus change the mind of the individual.

2018-08-22 01:31:46 UTC [Subverse #general]

I am not talking about smaller social media, the forums, discord, etc, etc...

2018-08-22 01:32:01 UTC [Subverse #general]

I am talking about the big social media sites, the ones that controls communication around the world.

2018-08-22 01:32:40 UTC [Subverse #general]

It is so much more likely that you will be exposed to bad ideas and entrenched in the ideas when people are always like... your racists and fascists, therefor you must only be placed in the echo chambers with actual racists and fascists.

2018-08-22 01:33:44 UTC [Subverse #general]

Before twitter started shadow banning and placing people into bubbles for "Content" that they want to see, we were able to talk to each other and exchange ideas together.

2018-08-22 01:33:51 UTC [Subverse #general]

REgardless who you were and where you were from.

2018-08-22 01:34:11 UTC [Subverse #general]

Yes there was echo chambers, but they were small and in the fringe.

2018-08-22 01:34:26 UTC [Subverse #general]

Now they are massive and split between the left and right.

2018-08-22 01:34:59 UTC [Subverse #general]

Not to the extent that people are willing to violent beat each other up over their political opinions.

2018-08-22 01:36:30 UTC [Subverse #general]

What you are basically saying, you are taking blame from the big social media companies for contributing these echo chambers. I say the social media companies are party of the problem, they are a big part of the problem, they are not the sole cause of the problem though.

2018-08-22 01:36:55 UTC [Subverse #general]

I am trying to understand your view.

2018-08-22 01:37:08 UTC [Subverse #general]

It feels like you are trying to say that the big social media companies are not the reason for this.

2018-08-22 01:37:16 UTC [Subverse #general]

Beeman.

2018-08-22 01:38:32 UTC [Subverse #general]

I feel that the big social media companies has accelerated the problem to the end game and is major part of dividing people even more along party lines aka tribalism.

2018-08-22 01:40:47 UTC [Subverse #general]

These companies are vastly powerful and working together in conjunctions with each other, basically they have monopolized our communication across the internet. Then they start restricting content to us based on our likes and dislikes, which bleeds into politics where you may like republican and dislike democrats, etc, etc... They give you content based on what your views and likes are. Creating a huge echo chamber for many people, they also hide comments and opinions that is opposed to your views.

2018-08-22 01:42:26 UTC [Subverse #general]

They pretty much false advertise to people using these platforms. Aka free speech platforms where free exchange of ideas can happen. That isn't what you get with these social media companies now.

2018-08-22 01:42:38 UTC [Subverse #general]

Is it false advertisement? Seriously think about it.

2018-08-22 01:43:33 UTC [Subverse #general]

I don't think we need regulations, but we do need like a internet bill of rights for our users, thus if the social media infringes upon these rights they can be sued and held accountable.

2018-08-22 01:43:43 UTC [Subverse #general]

We don't need government intervention into the social media companies.

2018-08-22 01:44:48 UTC [Subverse #general]

It is basically a agreement between social media and us, this is the list of our rights and thus the social media can't infringe upon these rights unless they want to be held accountable by people through the rule of law.

2018-08-22 01:45:49 UTC [Subverse #general]

Regulation is when the government is actively involved with the social media companies and keeps a thumb on their pulse. Absolute power corrupts absolute.

2018-08-22 01:45:54 UTC [Subverse #general]

Government is good at destroying.

2018-08-22 01:47:08 UTC [Subverse #general]

Basically they can be held accountable our nation's laws if they infringe upon that nation's citizen.

2018-08-22 01:47:37 UTC [Subverse #general]

The law that they can be held accountable depends on the person and what nation they are from.

2018-08-22 01:48:24 UTC [Subverse #general]

That is where we got to hash out the details of the bill of rights.

2018-08-22 01:48:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

The constitution of United States wasn't made in a single day.

2018-08-22 01:48:54 UTC [Subverse #general]

It was made day and night, hidden from the British through secret before they introduced it.

2018-08-22 01:49:20 UTC [Subverse #general]

I don't get where people get that idea, it was thought upon, debated upon, talked about, and hashed out by our founding fathers.

2018-08-22 01:49:23 UTC [Subverse #general]

It wasn't made in a single night.

2018-08-22 01:49:37 UTC [Subverse #general]

The Bill of Rights was also debated upon.

2018-08-22 01:49:42 UTC [Subverse #general]

I was using constitution as a example.

2018-08-22 01:50:09 UTC [Subverse #general]

It will take time for us users of the internet to come up with a bill of rights.

2018-08-22 01:50:22 UTC [Subverse #general]

And a agreement between the social media company and us.

2018-08-22 01:50:50 UTC [Subverse #general]

I don't want to give the power of controlling our global communication to the government.

2018-08-22 01:51:57 UTC [Subverse #general]

Sorry for barging into this conversation, I am very opinionated and I think highly of my nation's founding father's vision.

2018-08-22 01:53:08 UTC [Subverse #general]

My favorite subject is history, I take lessons from the past.

2018-08-22 01:53:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

History is beautiful and sometimes sad, but history also gives us the truth and the understanding of human nature.

2018-08-22 01:54:05 UTC [Subverse #general]

I have been in university, but I dropped out because of the atmosphere.

2018-08-22 01:54:22 UTC [Subverse #general]

I was mostly history and psychology.

2018-08-22 01:54:41 UTC [Subverse #general]

OSU.

2018-08-22 01:54:48 UTC [Subverse #general]

It is a international college as well.

2018-08-22 01:55:00 UTC [Subverse #general]

Oklahoma State University.

2018-08-22 01:55:33 UTC [Subverse #general]

I wanted to be a constitutionalist major, someone who understands and protects it.

2018-08-22 01:55:58 UTC [Subverse #general]

But I couldn't finish because of the hatred towards me because I am a independent atheist with conservative leanings.

2018-08-22 01:56:28 UTC [Subverse #general]

Yeah... social justice warriors have invaded Oklahoma state.

2018-08-22 01:57:01 UTC [Subverse #general]

Oklahoma is a great place, people get along outside the university.

2018-08-22 01:57:14 UTC [Subverse #general]

University felt like an place to breed hatred and to divide people.

2018-08-22 01:58:14 UTC [Subverse #general]

Most people say... oh we are the Midwest and racists, but in actually... we all get along great. WE don't fight, we help each other, and we depend on each other. The storms and natural diasters have created bonds that are hard to break.

2018-08-22 01:59:11 UTC [Subverse #general]

We have a few democratic mayors in Oklahoma, those cities end up being the worst cities to live in Oklahoma.

2018-08-22 01:59:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

Aka Tulsa, Oklahoma to name one.

2018-08-22 01:59:42 UTC [Subverse #general]

What is with the Democrat mayors always leading cities down that path? I am seeing a pattern there.

2018-08-22 02:00:01 UTC [Subverse #general]

I want to understand why... but it is hard too when I get pushback for bringing that up.

2018-08-22 02:00:58 UTC [Subverse #general]

No thank you, no way in hell do I want to become a sanctuary city.

2018-08-22 02:02:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

Sanctuary cities is basically giving the illegal immigrants a free pass to break the law. Everyone should be held accountable to the law, regardless what your situation is. We are not a nation of laws if we pick and choose our laws.

2018-08-22 02:03:04 UTC [Subverse #general]

I have an term I came up a long time ago. Get woke and go broke. :\

2018-08-22 02:04:26 UTC [Subverse #general]

You basically giving away everything that makes you, you... it breaks your mental state.

2018-08-22 02:04:57 UTC [Subverse #general]

Individualism is squashed and group think is praised in the left.

2018-08-22 02:06:04 UTC [Subverse #general]

Yeah, there is some of that on the fringe of the right

2018-08-22 02:06:07 UTC [Subverse #general]

Aka it is the fringe.

2018-08-22 02:06:13 UTC [Subverse #general]

It isn't predominate as the left is.

2018-08-22 02:06:43 UTC [Subverse #general]

You have to go pretty far right to find it.

2018-08-22 02:06:48 UTC [Subverse #general]

While on the left, you don't have to go far.

2018-08-22 02:07:18 UTC [Subverse #general]

Well if they are pissed, take back their party, start convincing people .

2018-08-22 02:08:06 UTC [Subverse #general]

I was originally in the left, then I switch to republican, then I went to independent. It feels much better being in the middle. Picking and choosing ideas that I view as helpful towards our nation and discard the rest.

2018-08-22 02:08:51 UTC [Subverse #general]

I do not hold any party allegiance, I consider myself only a American period.

2018-08-22 02:09:41 UTC [Subverse #general]

Like Timcast said, we are heading for a cliff and no one seems to be looking for a break.

2018-08-22 02:10:04 UTC [Subverse #general]

I like this debate, actual debating I haven't seen in a long time.

2018-08-22 02:10:11 UTC [Subverse #general]

^_^

2018-08-22 02:10:29 UTC [Subverse #general]

I have a feeling that Democrats are dying by their own hand and they are too stupid to realize it.

2018-08-22 02:10:39 UTC [Subverse #general]

BRB

2018-08-22 02:36:56 UTC [Subverse #general]

Democrats were the creators and solders of the Confederate army. Democrats were the founders of the KKK in attempt to segregated and keep blacks from mingling with the whites, then when civil rights era came along they found against black's getting their rights. Democrats fought against almost every single civil rights piece except for the last one, they figured if they can't win, they will use the blacks by keeping them under their party as loyal voting block.

2018-08-22 02:37:55 UTC [Subverse #general]

Why the heck would I support a party that attempts to blame Republicans for their past? It doesn't make sense. The tearing down statues and the destruction of the "Racist" history is working in favor of the democrats.

2018-08-22 02:38:07 UTC [Subverse #general]

Why would people research the past if there isn't any reminders of the past?

2018-08-22 02:38:27 UTC [Subverse #general]

Statues play a good role in making people remember the past and thus remembering never to go down that path again.

2018-08-22 02:38:49 UTC [Subverse #general]

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

2018-08-22 02:41:16 UTC [Subverse #general]

I created an saying throughout my debates, tell me what you think. "The reminders of past are there to remind of us our past. People that attempts to erase those reminders has no good intentions, for they are willing to run the risk of repeating it in the future. Only selfish people erase the past in the present without consideration for the future."

2018-08-22 02:42:34 UTC [Subverse #general]

That is why when Tim brought that up... I was squealing with delight.

2018-08-22 02:43:01 UTC [Subverse #general]

I didn't know how I felt, but I felt vindicated in some sense with my saying that I been saying for years.

2018-08-22 02:43:52 UTC [Subverse #general]

I honestly can't think of a perfect label for the center, they are made of a wide diverse group of people.

2018-08-22 02:44:14 UTC [Subverse #general]

Still doesn't describe us accurately.

2018-08-22 02:44:35 UTC [Subverse #general]

Moderates lack some kind of special feeling.

2018-08-22 02:44:41 UTC [Subverse #general]

People think of Moderates as average.

2018-08-22 02:45:13 UTC [Subverse #general]

-_-

2018-08-22 02:45:32 UTC [Subverse #general]

NO... absolutely no way would I want to be associated with the socialists.

2018-08-22 02:46:12 UTC [Subverse #general]

How about the Independent Thinkers Party of America?

2018-08-22 02:46:48 UTC [Subverse #general]

But I think labeling the center is a bad idea.

2018-08-22 02:46:56 UTC [Subverse #general]

Because it would end up being division along party lines.

2018-08-22 02:47:00 UTC [Subverse #general]

Like republicans and democrats became.
