As a race, procreation is vital. Individually, not at all unless a group within the race is at risk of dissapearing.

It's probably a moral imperative for gender people to have children, for example.

I have to disagree if you don't mind.

There are thousands of technical papers that have taught us things of incalculable value. E.g. relativity, the numerous cures and vaccines, conformity experiments. Science and it's language are the fuel of great stories.

Storytellers are very often employed to make others look bad. You can see it in the second world war in the stories told about the Jews, and you can see it around election time with the stories about the opposing parties.

The Old English term "spin a yarn" means to exaggerate beyond belief.

The whole world has very negative views on sex. You can sit in a theater with hundreds of people and watch people torture and kill in movies such as Saw, but to watch people having sex is viewed as disgusting, perverse, and must be hidden away.

But India is incredibly reserved when it comes to sex.

Teachers literally do effect infinity, taking that humans last that long. The changes they make in other humans is passed in to everyone they come in contact with, so there is a realistic payoff.
