I missed the landowner suffrage debate yesterday. While I agree that landowner suffrage is better than universal suffrage, its important to note that if you tried to institute that policy now you have several technocractic methods for elites to control those votes. The fed reserve and various investment/banking regulations have been used for decades to artificially raise housing prices, I'm sure those methods will be put on steroids (along with new methods we can't even think of yet) in order to push all property values 10x or 100x its market value. They would do this over a number years in order to lock-in all property owners, then once their livelihoods depend on the continuation of such policies its just a matter of carrot dangling to get them to vote however you want. Just sayin.

If you deregulated the banking system and eliminated the fed reserve (like back in the days of the founders) and let the market set property values then you wouldn't have this problem.

But they wouldn't shaft the landowers

How they would do it would be to make your land worth 100x times its current value

Then the landowners, who are the only ones who can vote now, would simply lower land taxes

land taxes would basically go to zero overnight

You better believe they would put political pressure on every elected official to do so

The existing technocratic structure, which isn't elected, would most certainly massively inflate property values in a landowner suffrage scenario

in response to that, landowners who have the power to vote, would probably vote for someone who lowers their taxes, not for someone who would try and lower their property values

I agree they are scared of it, I already know its better than universal suffrage

I'm just saying, you have to figure out how to deal with their technocracy to implement it now

that person can turn around and sell it for $10 million if someone is willing to pay that

which in landowner suffrage, works for the elite's favor

But when your house is worth 200x your yearly salary, wouldn't selling your house seem tempting? Maybe not to you but a lot of people.
