About the drones... We had a wildfire here last summer and someone decided to get some drone footage. The helicopters who were fighting the fire were GROUNDED while they hunted down the drone operator. They are doing dangerous work already, flying choppers at max load with water buckets through very poor visibility. There is no way they would see a drone in time to avoid a collision. There is at least SOME legitimate reason to keep them out of rescue operations.
Do you want to be the pilot who has to find out how much damage it would do? When you are already flying blind over a fire? Sorry, I know what those men did for ME and my community, and I would have wrung the drone owner's neck. A LITTLE common sense goes a LONG way toward not inspiring the tyrants to write new laws.

@Riggy17 (UK) Steep canyon country, capricious winds, it is pretty selfish to decide your drone footage is worth adding any stress to anyone who is fighting this kind of stuff.
That was where the conversation started (for me.) Someone flew a drone while they were trying to put that out. That was just over a mile from my house, I was packed and ready to leave and watch everything that did not fit in my car burn. Some asshat grounded all the choppers with his drone. It was incredibly rude, and there is no excuse for putting ANY additional danger in the situation.

Video of what? If the drone got any footage it was never released. Justify all you want, it put MY HOME in danger, I am not buying any excuses.

It seemed to me that the discussion was centered on a notion that there were only devious reasons to make a law against drones. I was trying to provide a more rational reason. In the end, we agree, ground them all and I would be just dandy with that.

Morning all! About Assange...I have said for years that something is not right. There is no such thing as a famous whistleblower. I tried to blow the whistle on Pharma, had them dead to rights. Ever heard of me? Nope. No one would listen to me. Probably for the best, because there IS such a thing as dead whistleblowers. My husband DID blow the whistle on the Red Cross. Got interviewed on national TV, the reporter won an Emmy for the expose. He got a few peanuts and a gag order - for winning. Ever heard of him? Nope. I just have never understood why these men got so much press. I also have always used 9-11 as a litmus test, if you can't call out that bullshit, you are not a truther. (Adam Kokesh falls into that group too.) I may be wrong, so I never made a big deal of it but it is really good to see people question this narrative. Oh, and heroes, I do not do heroes and when someone tries to sell me one, I always get suspicious. There are humans, sinners every one, who occasionally rise to do an heroic deed. No heroes.

I have to say, I went to our nearest "big city" yesterday and while there is a large Hispanic population there, they know English. Yesterday every store I went in was filled with non-English speaking Hispanics. This morning, a Hispanic man shot and killed someone in that city. That is NOT normal around here. I am starting to think it is too late to do any good at the border, IDAHO is already being flooded with immigrants it seems.
