My mom is a smoker, and being locked in a hospital for 4 days unable to smoke she has made the decision to stay quit once she's released today. I'm so fucking proud of her.

Even my son was telling her "thank you Grandma, I love you Grandma"

I never thought this day would come.

So I'm going through her house, getting stuff cleaned out ashtrays emptied and washed and out of sight and getting everything out of her house so she can have an easier transition.

As of right now her decision is to quit cold turkey permanently

I'm counting my lucky stars right now tbh. After being in the hospital since Sunday, my mom got to go home yesterday afternoon. She will be on oxygen for a few months. But recovery is possible.

I could never work in healthcare, my heart would quite honestly implode.

I have a lot of friends who work at OHSU, and the stories they come home with, I just can't imagine. Y'all are the real MVPs.

One of my friends is not on the front lines, but she works in the labs, all her work has been postponed and redirected towards covid-19 research and development. Every failed test effects her tremendously.
