Secularism is the *"indifference to or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious considerations."*

1) Popular Sovereignty - A government is illegitimate and tyrannical if it does not derive it's mandate to rule from the consent of the governed.

2) Republicanism - The belief that a representative republic best serves the interests of the people by balancing a hierarchical structure with a democratic voting system.

3) Separation of Powers - That the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial Branch must always remain divided.

4) Checks and Balances - That the aforementioned three branches should have the power to check each others power to prevent tyranny.

5) Limited Government - That the Government should not eliminate rights to privacy nor exist in a capacity that does not serve the interests of the people.

6) Individual Rights - That the rights of individual citizens comes before groups and that they must be protected at all costs to preserve independent thought.

7) Federalism - That a regional (state and county) governments should exist to check the power of the Federal government and to serve the needs and interests of local communities that may not apply or may differ to the rest of the nation.
