"We train in chaos" and "violence of action" were two of the most common phrases I heard in basic to explain why everything was a shitshow.
Apparently retrieving a mattress that has been duct taped to the ceiling of a squad bay is "training".
They're women and the state is the surrogate husband/father.
Curt Doolittle is absolutely right on this issue. Everyone should be free to say whatever they want, but you should also be totally accountable for anything you say that has consequence.
Apes don't have the capacity for pro-social behavior. (Some) Humans do.
Apes are not humans. Apes are social animals. Man has the capacity for everything from anti-social to borderline eusoical behavior.
But it is within the capacity of some human populations.
@virtue domesticated animals can be pro-social yes. Man is a domesticated animal largely. Which is why we don't have to organize on a social pack/herd structure.
@virtue I'm still not seeing how this counters my point about human behavior. There is no need for us to use ape troops as a standard for organization.
@virtue What. Is. Your. Point. In. Relation. To. Mine.
Well, I just wanted to voice my objection to that one 200 IQ individual equating man and apes socially. The rest of you are engaging in futility. If you're afraid of the state's monopoly on force then just militarize the whole of society, if everyone is a soldier then no one has asymmetric power over anyone.
@Nerthulas Who fucking cares? If they don't like him they can shoot him.
@Nerthulas Then he doesn't get shot?
@Nerthulas Like Prussia and Sparta and the early American Republic right. Totally defined by warlordism.
@Nerthulas I'm not arguing on the side of "anti-statism" guy.
@Nerthulas You literally just restated my argument you fucking nerd.
>using Africans to make judgments about humanity as a whole
Embrace tradition White Man, reject libertarianism, become a housecarl.
The Federation isn't even remotely fascistic in the time period that the book takes place.
Now that's reproductive fitness.
