I'm curious as to where Codreanu ever called himself fascist

I'm not convinced the concept of fascism yet existed, in Romania at any rate.
"Legionarism" may be an accurate term for the Legion of the Archangel Michael and their teachings though IMO.

Codreanu himself was a monarchist, and a nationalist.
I think at one point he called his ideas "national-Christian socialism" although I am not sure his socialism was the same as modern socialism

I just distrust the term fascism, it seems very nebulous, and also it seems, aside from the original 'fascists', to be a thing of teenage adolescence with skulls and childish rhetoric everywhere

I have also heard the accusation that fascism is an eschatological progressivism of its own, trying to reshape humanity just like communism almost like another side of a coin, although admittedly I have not read much fascist literature so I cannot say with any certainty
