the ATF is pathetic
j/k ATF I'm a fully registered citizen and all my possessions are stored and reported in accordance to all local, state, and federal laws & regulations.
so I just complete this ritual and I get the privilege of drawing on this communities vast and immensurate wisdom?
that's lit
oh please tell me, may I consult the council now?
*LWH
not gucci enough?
don't worry, I've got a new meme on the way
tell me why not to
it's not an illuminator
vis + IR laser
Trigger is the weakest characteristic, no argument. I also believe that a broken extractor would be a pain at the range.
It would end the day for any handgun I own, because I don't carry spare extractors with me.
I sold my G17 after buying this
It took a few hundred rounds to get my group size back comparable to where it was with the G17
I prefer it in every other way.
No that's the 10mm
I got 5 with it
Haven't really felt the need for more.
IT
you want my linkedin profile fellow technologist? I don't use the boots at work
the internet
danner 10" canadian
It's a hunting boot, not PPE
yikes
so can I ask questions about helmets and plates now or what?
Is there any sort of quick reference or easy breakdown of the ceramic plate brands listed in the FAQ? Any that stand out for any particular reason?
I finally got around to ordering a PC setup, and I don't really want to have it sitting around without plates forever.
Budget isn't really a constraint.
I'd prefer not to overpay just because gucci
But I'm not looking for bargain bin shit
So, I'm expecting to spend $800-2000
I'm an obsessive comparison shopper, so I'm trying to start with a limited set of options.
There are 8 listed brands in the pastebin.
Just looking for any thing that might distinguish one from another in terms of build, price, quality, ease of purchase.
I figured there might be opinions on such things.
ESAPI'ish I think, but I don't have intimate expertise with commercially available armor and modern standards.
Top level protection without being obscenely heavy, SAPI-Medium size.
I'm not trying to build a mil-clone rig or anything, so specific brand gucci is irrelevant
If the weight and price difference increase isn't unreasonable, that seems like the route I'd go.
sure, just mail them to my business address in Nevada and I'll send you the bitcoin
Is that even a reasonable budget?
I knew the plates would be expensive, I just don't know how much as a ratio to the cost of literally everything else is right.
Like, I'll spend 1:1 on rifle optics.
Depends how I die. These plates will probably never be used.
So that does factor in.
I mean, ideally nobody will ever be shooting at me. I actually shoot my guns and such.
Right, the usual cycle is I go and look at things, then post "should I buy x?", and everyone shits on it but doesn't provide any useful feedback.
While F5'ing the worlds slowest thread.
Maybe I can rephrase my question. Obviously there's a range of those three factors. One thing many of the people here have in common I'm assuming is that they've bought plates, based on their intended use case. Is there a range that's been settled by now as a reasonable balance point, or no it's just all over the place.
I don't have a strong preference as my use case is entirely hypothetical.
Are the main arguments for avoiding IV cost, thickness, or weight?
Right, just like camping gear or lots of things. Weight, price, durability.
Hesco didn't obviously list pricing on their site, what's the best vendor to browse Hesco / Hesco rebrand plates?
Thanks. My PC / chest rig arrives Monday, so I'll make sure to get some short shorts and a cutoff t-shirt by then.
A wise choice.
Oh I see. 10.2lbs for a pair of medium 4800s, 15.8lbs for a pair of 4400s.
$440 vs. $2200
So it's not really how much is my life worth, but how much is saving 6lbs worth.
What's the thickest someone who isn't a fat fuck could get away with easily wearing under a jacket in a slick PC?
As in a not way oversized, nice softshell.
So this noguns and I share a social caste?
just airsoft
fuck
oh I see
I'm in the wrong place
hopefully once real guns are off the streets they'll drop the orange tip requirement
I prefer a bright flashlight
they can blind someone you know
airsoft guns make a convenient and ergonomic mounting platform
how unsanitary
and should you come up against another poopstick wielder?
you'll wish you had a flashlight
Why would you buy an upper without even having an idea of what you want as the lower?
Fair.
Which upper?
Interesting choice.
A decent NV setup can cost as much as the entire rest of your kit combined.
I doubt there's many people that actually have experience with a large number of different options.
*Many people on larperator discords / forums
Which tubes do you guys have in your RNVGs?
And lenses for that matter
How rapidly is the NVG market evolving? Is improvement in the tech driving the price/performance ratio in a favorable direction or is it too niche / low volume?
I fucked around with poorfag NVG rifle optics a few years back and it just wasn't worth it.
Now I'm torn between waiting to crack the 7-figure net worth to get something really good, or trying to find a balance point
what's the best you can buy without sucking off an LEO at your local dive bar
or doing some skeezy arfcom trade
Is gentex opscore still the mount of choice?
I just mean as a helmet for mounting nods to
So realistically, we're talking ~$10k for a decent setup.
How long until PSQ-36 flood the market? ๐ฅ
I really can't decide if /k/ is actually far worse than it used to be or if I've just become a crotchety old fuck
Are these the same neets from 10+ years ago, with an extra decade of failure and depression piled on or a new batch of teenagers?
that's always been true
