but those used cars are now inflating in value with demand, despite the fact that they are actually realistically losing value as they age

so that cushion between the auto industry failing is being dried up

auto industry is built on debt, people get loans to buy cars. Nobody taking out new loans, lots of people defaulting on existing loans.
