I just saw some tornadoes in SW Nebraska a few days ago. Lot of fun to watch so long as they're over open fields

But today very likely could be a disaster

I'm in Colorado right now, a Florida native, moving likely to Texas in two months or so

Colorado is a pretty state, but I do not recommend living here unless you're a government employee.

I moved to Colorado back in the mid 90s when real estate was still pretty affordable.

Nowadays cookie-cutter homes go for half a million or more

I get the feeling that the high number of democratic candidates will be the reason the political left will lose this election

Politics is a necessary evil...I just wish people didn't let it literally take over and become their lives

I get the same feeling from the US government

I tend to be libertarian. My biggest thing is getting rid of all the victimless crimes and letting the states sort things out for themselves.

I'm simultaneously dealing with a new schedule at my work, dealing with work being extremely understaffed, a temperamental car, and trying to arrange a long awaited cross-country move. Yay!

Yeah, my original plan fell through so I'm trying to work with my backup...and running into some potential catch-22s that might make things more difficult than necessary

I threw an offer on it earlier today but part of me wants to just buy it and not wait

Ever tried to move across the country while meeting resistance from both your employer about a transfer and prospective apartment complexes about being a non local resident? Oh, while also hoping your car doesn't suddenly crap out on you like the last one did? It's super fun, I assure you.

Yeah, I'm only on year 4 of trying to leave this city now lol

I wanted to move to Texas (specifically Dallas/Fort Worth)

But now I'm looking at a place in Oklahoma City, which I'm perfectly okay with

I was just there two weeks ago lol

Eh, Colorado's traffic is worse

I got stuck on I-30 east of Dallas in that mess thanks to that semi truck accident a week and a half ago

I'd rather put up with that then Denver traffic any day of the week

But I was a career driver for a number of years, plus I've driven all over the US. A little rush hour traffic is nothing to me

I got caught in morning and evening rush hour in DFW all 4 days I was there. It was never as bad as I-25 in Denver during rush hour

With the exception of the backups due to the odd accident, traffic at least kept moving.

I've been stuck at random backups on I-25 in essentially the middle of nowhere here in Colorado as late as 2 AM

Denver just doesn't have the infrastructure to handle all the people moving in

It's a multi-unit house

Essentially a condo of sorts

It's actually not a bad place

But damn is it pricey

Longmont doesn't really have a 'bad' side

I mean, there's a few neighborhoods that are a bit more run down but hardly dangerous

The area I'm in is somewhere in the middle: generally nice and well kept up but a far cry from many of the newer neighborhoods

The sad thing is, my unit would be considered more 'affordable' compared to other places of the same size

Rent in Colorado is stupid

Studios almost anywhere in the Front Range tend to start at $800

Usually they go for $1000

Two bedroom units in the Denver suburbs tend to start at $1400 or $1500

I've seen newer/nicer 2 bedroom places go for over $2000

I blame California

Neighboring Boulder is locally referred to as Little San Francisco

Too many people moving in too quickly

It's gonna suck for the local economy when people stop moving in

I'm originally from Jacksonville, and I'd much rather be there than where I'm currently at
