Because they are VERY different places

Inland is more conservative, self-sufficient. Worse educational system though. Very affordable, but winters are hell.

Coastal is more liberal, has a bit of diversity. Way better education, winters are a bit more bearable. Most job options are coastal. It gets a lot more expensive though.
