16 bit when done correctly has enough dynamic range

2018-02-23 00:46:18 UTC

that said, if youre doing digital volume control it might be an issue, im still not entirely sure there

2018-02-23 00:46:25 UTC

tbh i cant tell the difference between 320 mp3 and flac so ๐Ÿคท

2018-02-23 00:46:29 UTC

nah it won't be a issue

2018-02-23 00:46:32 UTC

if your dac is set at 24 bits in windows

2018-02-23 00:46:35 UTC

I'll download 16 and 24 bit versions of a song and use my T2s for a/b

2018-02-23 00:46:37 UTC

or 32 bits

2018-02-23 00:46:40 UTC

or w/e it is

2018-02-23 00:46:43 UTC

tho if that was the case you could just get your dac to upsample to 24+ bit

2018-02-23 00:46:54 UTC

dont download two versions

2018-02-23 00:46:58 UTC

download the 24 bit and convert

2018-02-23 00:47:04 UTC

so you absolutely have the same file

2018-02-23 00:47:23 UTC

youd have to be listening to a stupidly quiet master at stupidly high volumes for it to be an issue

2018-02-23 00:48:56 UTC

Good idea

2018-02-23 00:49:46 UTC

high bit depth is only really a practical necessity for those doing DAW work since it does a lot of layering shit

2018-02-23 00:50:17 UTC

this is why i just listen to vinyl

2018-02-23 00:50:26 UTC

ew

2018-02-23 00:50:30 UTC

vinyl is lofi as fuck

2018-02-23 00:50:58 UTC

muh "more dynamic range than digital!!!" memes

2018-02-23 00:51:12 UTC

opticail cartidge though??

2018-02-23 00:51:13 UTC

ya if you ignore the fucking insane noise floor

2018-02-23 00:51:26 UTC

i thought that thing was already out

2018-02-23 00:52:02 UTC

optical cartridges have been a thing for a while

2018-02-23 00:52:07 UTC

this might be diff tho

2018-02-23 00:52:38 UTC

ye looks to be some new one

2018-02-23 00:53:19 UTC

oh this is a new version of that

2018-02-23 00:54:20 UTC

i just dont get vinyl

2018-02-23 00:54:56 UTC

```Intrigued? You better start saving. The DS W2 cartridge costs $4500 and the preamp is $8500.
2018-02-23 00:54:58 UTC
if your wonderin bout pricin
2018-02-23 00:55:19 UTC
the whole "ya but its all analogue" argument is true but imo the mad noise, dynamic range and inconvenience factors completely overshadow any issues digital might have
2018-02-23 00:55:36 UTC
ye but its cool dude
2018-02-23 00:55:48 UTC
its just spinning plastic
2018-02-23 00:55:54 UTC
id rather frame it to look at lol
2018-02-23 00:55:55 UTC
wheres the fun in listenin to classical
2018-02-23 00:56:02 UTC
if you don't have to get up and turn it over
2018-02-23 00:56:10 UTC
It's irrelevant either way, cause it's recorded from a digital source anyway these days
2018-02-23 00:56:31 UTC
eh there are some purist studios who still give a shit for some reason
2018-02-23 00:56:43 UTC
but yeah almost all of it will have been converted at least once
2018-02-23 00:57:29 UTC
vinyl is $$$ as well
2018-02-23 00:57:56 UTC
i wanna build my own tt
2018-02-23 00:57:59 UTC
both in equipment
2018-02-23 00:58:01 UTC
and actual records lol
2018-02-23 01:00:07 UTC
eugh this song has some stupid 16k squeal
2018-02-23 01:00:15 UTC
did they fucking record this next to a crt
2018-02-23 01:05:24 UTC
maybe they're just deaf lol
2018-02-23 01:05:46 UTC
probably
2018-02-23 07:32:26 UTC
There is no point of going beyond 16 bit irl
At 85db listening you only need 75db of range.
Unless the headphones can reproduce the slight noise a falling leaf makes and the chance of your eardrums still picking it up at >18
2018-02-23 09:08:15 UTC
Yes or no
2018-02-23 13:04:24 UTC
1000kbps of regret
2018-02-23 13:13:08 UTC
`hello guys welcome to my guide`
2018-02-23 13:44:15 UTC
Conclusion: fuck ogg, opus is ok, and MP3/flac/opus 512 best
2018-02-23 13:45:12 UTC
opus 192 is fine for vocal focused pieces
2018-02-23 13:45:26 UTC
clearenuffโ„ข
2018-02-23 14:08:32 UTC
i managed to tell the diff erence between 320 mp3 and flac once
2018-02-23 14:08:41 UTC
i had toplay the same 0.5s snare though over and over again
2018-02-23 14:08:50 UTC
the flac souded slightly crispier
2018-02-23 14:12:41 UTC
yeah you gotta be a major autist to care enough
2018-02-23 14:12:50 UTC
like me
2018-02-23 14:23:23 UTC
i mean is it really worth it
2018-02-23 14:23:31 UTC
the ~15mb more
2018-02-23 14:25:33 UTC
yes
2018-02-23 14:25:38 UTC
mostly for archival
2018-02-23 14:41:34 UTC
files degrade on hdds anyway
2018-02-23 14:42:23 UTC
ye thats why i store all my files on the cloud
2018-02-23 14:42:38 UTC
the cloud consists of hdds as well tho
2018-02-23 14:42:46 UTC
its not a magical thing
2018-02-23 14:42:50 UTC
rly ๐Ÿ˜ข
has anyone heard of "1080p HD audio"?
2018-02-23 17:56:09 UTC
Dunno
2018-02-23 17:56:22 UTC
Is that a mic or antenna on the side?
2018-02-23 18:18:16 UTC
Lmao
thats a mic. its one of those taxi-driver-style earpeices
2018-02-23 19:58:33 UTC
Then yes
2018-02-23 19:58:49 UTC
1080p music is good for pajeet
2018-02-23 19:59:29 UTC
Doesn't need to listen to lousy 720p songs anymore
2018-02-23 19:59:55 UTC
Make sure you get a hd SD card with it
2018-02-23 20:00:25 UTC
2018-02-23 20:04:30 UTC
Wasn't that the Super audiophile sd "without degradation" because it claimed to run some internal raid 1 bs?
2018-02-23 23:55:49 UTC
isn't file degradation a complete meme that you wont event notice in a single lifespan?
2018-02-23 23:56:28 UTC
it doesnt exist
2018-02-23 23:56:53 UTC
the actual degredation would come from the physical chips themselves dying
2018-02-23 23:56:56 UTC
similar to CD rot
2018-02-23 23:57:07 UTC
aye
2018-02-24 07:47:59 UTC
Samsung sd cards sound harsh and cold <:alismirk:230784726615588865>
2018-02-24 07:49:19 UTC
Anyways it would take you almost 9 years to start detiorating a card by writing and wiping a 100 gb's of data on it daily
2018-02-24 07:50:53 UTC
>1080p music
The chinks don't know youtube stays at ~192 max at 720p and above
2018-02-24 07:53:32 UTC
I encoded my music library to my phone once at 24/32kbps 44.1khz 16 bit opus, bean me <:benis:239668961011040257>
