yeah i have backlights in my current keyboard, totally optional and i'd not waste a penny on them on my next keyboard

Backlighting is honestly a must for me

It's just that it's part of the nighttime composition, as it's too damn dark else

And I live in a place where it's dark 70% of the year

Honestly though, backlighting is a part of the mid-tier KBs and up nowaday

thing is, they can be nice, i've used my lights in games like elite dangerous so that they have collor correspondation (not sure if a word) with game UI elemnts and also turn green or red based on landing gear out/in but no games really need them for anything when you're looking at your screen most of the time, they can be pretty though if you like matching colors in your desk area

as far as using for lighting things up they're not that great either, if you wanted you could always invest in a lampp if it's dark 70
