My father in law was sent there but I don't know his level of involvement. He was a captain or a major in the people's armed police at the time, as a commissar so probably sat at a desk the entire time
PLA actually shot at other PLA in defense of civilians there. Entire units refused to enter the city, others just hung out with protestors or shared food with them. There's rumor that some protestors ended up with weapons thanks to some PLA soldiers. And then others, well you know what they did.
The field grade and general officers over the units that helped the protestors usually lost their jobs, I think some went to prison
Ah jeez never knew a lot about Tiananmen before or really thought of what you mentioned with transitioning out of communism causing people to lose jobs and possibly brew animosity
Well the protestors were pro democracy for sure
There hasn't exactly been protestors against market reform but there have been some issues in transition. And there has been a lot of protests by military veterans wanting compensation
Back in the cold war era, PLA enlisted men did not get paid. The government said it's their duty to serve, so why pay them for what they already owe?
Officers did, but not much and the rank structure almost didn't exist. It was more like job than rank. Soldier, squad leader, assistant platoon leader/commissar, platoon leader etc
The most based moment in anime history right here
sauce?
@Deleted User Konosuba season 2.
2nd or 3rd episode.
I see, thanks
It needs more episodes
Its always funny as hell and pretty based
@Ehzek There is a movie coming next year I think
It will never be enough though. 10 episode seasons are so terribly short.
Though I guess I should be happy there are anime that comitted to quality
I hope that its good, I have stopped watching new animes from 2k15 as they have significantly declined in quality and boosted more the fanservice as a theme.
There are still good anime out
Kono suba and Overlord
There is a new season of Index/railgun soon
Fate is on Heavens Feel and FGO
I have already watcher overlord
I'm waiting for the new season of JoJo too. I already have watched most anime stars from 1990-2k10 and still holding some when I will not have anything else to watch ๐
I'm waiting for Space Battleship Yamato 2202 to be fully out. The first season was great
might already be. I'll need to check
well, if you like animes like that you could check yukikaze
Sadly we don't get the full story on the anime :/
I'm a casual fan, only watch shows that catch my interest.
Yamato is a good action adventure sci-fi series. Its based on the classic show from 1974 but with better characters and story.
I only JUST watched FMA:Brotherhood this summer because I kept starting, only to keep comparing it to the 2003 series.
and that scene is really cool
btw
Well, yukikaze is a hidden gem if you have time to spare. If I remember it's only 5 episodes
It's from the few animes that try to keep somewhat realistic even when they use futuristic tech etc
yeah. I see that. I might just look it up.
Yamato's first season is a full 26 episodes
I have marked it down to watch it it looks good
Sadly, animes like yuki are to cliche for the mainstream so it's hard to get animes like this :~
Especially on the gambling genre... only 2 good animes from the same author
Brotherhood isnt as good as people say it is
I feel it glosses over the beginning stuff to much. The nest would be a fusion of the first series and the second. First series starts strong finishes weak and second starts weak and finishes strong
Also if we are talking about super short good anime, Blue Submarine Number 6.
4 episodes and has one of the best ending themes period
For me brotherhood was the pinnacle for the fullmetal. The first anime of fullmetal almost made me to sleep on the first episodes and I just skipped it
Eh. Iike the talk heavy anime so it doesnt bother me
GitS, Spice Wolf, Mauou or what ever its called
Heavy action and in depth talk is normally decent for anime.
I really liked FMA, interesting philosophical and moral questions in the whole resurrection thing
Ragnarok you have family in china right? Do you have any idea if their newer bullpup guns are good?
Someone was saying that the smg was hated. Haven't heard anything about the rifles.
QBZ is a nice gun but it's a rip-off of the Famas. An improvement still
They have a very short version for vehicle crews etc, kinda like a M4 SBR
But the selector switch is back by the mag well so it has flaws
Is it a famas rip? Aug would have been better
They are supposedly going to a new rifle in AK style again
I really liked those rifles though
The smg was really neat sounding too but apparently the ammo is worse than the P90s
At least it can also be a 9mm
It's a weird round like 5.8x42 or something
Thats the rifle smg is like 5.8x21
There's an export version they also sell to Chinese private security that uses 5.56
You can buy it in Canada, but not here
Cant buy in Canada either apparently
Think I read they seized them all
It was legal, banned, and legal again. Because it used to could be easily converted to full auto
Ahh
There's the new gun
So a galil lmao
The bullpup, it's similar to their LMG
And their DMR rifles
I think bullpup would be better for infantry
In mout yeah, but in an open area I'd like a regular rifle
Almost guarantee people that dont deserve weapons brought down its evals
As usual
What do you think of the mag based automatic rifles? Like the M27
Funny how these things come and go
How long would a bullpup barrel have to be to be m16 length?
M27 is stupid
Might as well just have m4a1s
I absolutely dont believe people were infantry in those evals
Well like the famas, it's got a 19 inch barrel. M16 as you know is 39.5
19 inch? Christ, thats damn near a sniper rifle
Read that wrong nvm
But they said m27 has about the same capability as a 249
That is entirely false
Famas length is 29
Barrel is 19
So 29 inch barrel to be a m16...
That would be neat to try
Well of course an M27 isn't a SAW. I think it could be good but tactics will have to change
They said its able to keep up the rate of fire like a saw
That sounds like someone doesnt know shit about reloading a SAW to me
Russian army uses a mag fed AR, the RPK
They use a lot of things
40 Rd mag or 75 Rd drum
I'll take my 200 round box thanks
Chinese have the QBB which is basically the QBZ with a 80 Rd drum
That is one thing the bullpups lag at
And in WW2 we had the BAR
