2018-05-17 14:44:27 UTC

or aristocratic family rather

2018-05-17 14:44:34 UTC

you know we've had an elected monarchy in Poland

2018-05-17 14:44:45 UTC

the plebs cant vote tho

2018-05-17 14:44:48 UTC

dunno if you're familiar with that

2018-05-17 14:44:56 UTC

our nobles were voting for the king

2018-05-17 14:45:03 UTC

and it went down the shitter real fast

2018-05-17 14:45:11 UTC

why?

2018-05-17 14:45:26 UTC

game of thrones like intrigue?

2018-05-17 14:45:33 UTC

or was the elected guy just a twat

2018-05-17 14:45:38 UTC

>go from this

2018-05-17 14:45:41 UTC

>to nothing

2018-05-17 14:45:43 UTC

>in 200 years

2018-05-17 14:45:45 UTC

👌

2018-05-17 14:45:48 UTC

wew

2018-05-17 14:46:05 UTC

cuz we ended up having a string of idiots on the throne

2018-05-17 14:46:18 UTC

thats why we need an impartial council

2018-05-17 14:46:25 UTC

later on any polish-lithuanian king would be effectively elected by foreign powers...

2018-05-17 14:46:53 UTC

>my idea was creating a commite with no political power that observes the heir during his growth to determine if he is capable, also he will be taught in morals and state theory and such

2018-05-17 14:47:20 UTC

that's what was more or less happening, I mean not really the first part but the heirs would get education and shit

2018-05-17 14:47:38 UTC

well the first part is the important one tho

2018-05-17 14:47:52 UTC

why limit yourself to only those people from the royal family?

2018-05-17 14:48:00 UTC

less of a hassle

2018-05-17 14:48:03 UTC

there are thousands even more capable politicians out there

2018-05-17 14:48:27 UTC

>less of a hassle

2018-05-17 14:48:27 UTC

royalty has better access to education cuz they are rich and dont need to work

2018-05-17 14:48:33 UTC

why is "hassle" bad

2018-05-17 14:48:57 UTC

democratic process was designed to ensure fair and effective transition of power

2018-05-17 14:48:58 UTC

it works

2018-05-17 14:49:19 UTC

>royalty has better access to education cuz they are rich and dont need to work
modern elites are basically royalty too, they receive top tier education

2018-05-17 14:49:19 UTC

thats we still have an elected parliament

2018-05-17 14:49:32 UTC

thats the whole point

2018-05-17 14:49:37 UTC

its that the elite

2018-05-17 14:49:39 UTC

are smart

2018-05-17 14:49:49 UTC

and one way to define elite is by going with royalty

2018-05-17 14:49:50 UTC

yeah then why can't they run for the top office?

2018-05-17 14:49:55 UTC

they can

2018-05-17 14:49:58 UTC

in parliament

2018-05-17 14:50:02 UTC

only royalty can

2018-05-17 14:50:10 UTC

top office = head of the state

2018-05-17 14:50:22 UTC

we dont need to make king head of state

2018-05-17 14:50:31 UTC

we can make king and pm equals

2018-05-17 14:50:36 UTC

as they hold ifferent authorites

2018-05-17 14:50:39 UTC

I just don't see a reason at all to limit yourself to just a few of the people

2018-05-17 14:50:56 UTC

I don't see anything that favors monarchy really 🤷

2018-05-17 14:51:02 UTC

R O Y A L T Y A E S T H E T I C S

2018-05-17 14:51:42 UTC

it might be aesthetic but you wouldn't want your fate being decided by aesthetics, but by merit

2018-05-17 14:51:55 UTC

every single european monarchy ultimately went down the shitter

2018-05-17 14:52:14 UTC

of those which didn't, they were gradually cessing their power to the parliament anyway 🤷

2018-05-17 14:52:15 UTC

thats why I keep saying that its not an absolute monarchy

2018-05-17 14:53:21 UTC

do you think there is anyone in your country more capable to govern than Merkel? 🤷

2018-05-17 14:53:27 UTC

do you think a king would do better?

2018-05-17 14:53:52 UTC

a king would hold different authorities than merke

2018-05-17 14:54:04 UTC

and I dont think merkel is the pinnacle of governance

2018-05-17 14:54:22 UTC

merkel would exist next to the king

2018-05-17 14:54:27 UTC

if you go by aesthetics then you can have monarchy just like some European countries do - just for official things, but they hold no power whatsoever

2018-05-17 14:54:28 UTC

on an equal scale with different powers

2018-05-17 14:54:38 UTC

thats pointless tho

2018-05-17 14:55:51 UTC

Merkel might not be the best politician in world history but she's an elite politician I don't see a reason to think otherwise, she's been able to maintain power in the most powerful country in Europe for all those years, and some of her schemes are quite impressive tbh like the same-sex marriage thing before the last elections that basically fucked SPD and die Gruene in the ass kek

2018-05-17 14:56:12 UTC

do you know why merkel holds power?

2018-05-17 14:56:20 UTC

because 40% of germans are old people

2018-05-17 14:56:24 UTC

maybe its not Bismarck tier stuff but she's fine by me 🤷

2018-05-17 14:56:46 UTC

it might be that

2018-05-17 14:56:51 UTC

but I really don't see anyone more capable

2018-05-17 14:56:55 UTC

all the people who vote cdu vote cdu because they always voted cdu

2018-05-17 14:57:02 UTC

thats true

2018-05-17 14:57:07 UTC

but that doesnt mean merkel is fine

2018-05-17 14:57:15 UTC

its just that everyone else is incompetent

2018-05-17 14:57:18 UTC

the best you can have 🤷

2018-05-17 14:57:32 UTC

I mean I'm not really into this kind of thinking

2018-05-17 14:57:56 UTC

if someone is the best I would rather say he's good and appreciate him instead of saying all the other people are incompetent

2018-05-17 14:57:59 UTC

the bueraucratic machine we have in place only allows for small grey lumpf of human beings to get anywhere close to power

2018-05-17 14:58:08 UTC

so I dont think that she is the best we can have

2018-05-17 14:58:12 UTC

oonly the best we are allowed to have

2018-05-17 14:58:41 UTC

do you really think Merkel isn't fine? of course some of her decisions were controversial, some were just utter shit(though I can see some reasoning in them anyway), but after all your country is doing graet

2018-05-17 14:59:11 UTC

our country doesnt seem to have a backbone when it comes to the us and is a slave to the automobil lobby

2018-05-17 14:59:16 UTC

impressive economy, billion budget surplus, billion trade surplus

2018-05-17 14:59:22 UTC

many countries absolutely envy you

2018-05-17 14:59:35 UTC

do you know why we have surplus

2018-05-17 14:59:39 UTC

i know

2018-05-17 14:59:48 UTC

it's still surplus 🤷

2018-05-17 14:59:53 UTC

I wouldn't complain too much about that

2018-05-17 14:59:54 UTC

because we dont get money for programs that benefit the citizens

2018-05-17 15:00:13 UTC

uhh well..

2018-05-17 15:00:19 UTC

our infracstrucutre is going down the shitter

2018-05-17 15:00:20 UTC

thats just one thing tbh

2018-05-17 15:00:30 UTC

just as much as my grammar is

2018-05-17 15:00:45 UTC

I don't think German infrastructure is that bad tbh

2018-05-17 15:00:51 UTC

look Italy <:haha:318675605233336330>

2018-05-17 15:01:01 UTC

its not only physical infrastructure

2018-05-17 15:01:13 UTC

I am talking digital

2018-05-17 15:01:15 UTC

tbh

2018-05-17 15:01:24 UTC

all of Europe is 1000000000 years behind in IT

2018-05-17 15:01:24 UTC

that's true

2018-05-17 15:01:30 UTC

but it's not only German problem

2018-05-17 15:01:44 UTC

it's a thing bigger than Germany and I don't think you're the ones to blame

2018-05-17 15:01:47 UTC

surely not Merkel

2018-05-17 15:01:58 UTC

*well actually you're the ones to be blamed for it kek*

2018-05-17 15:02:09 UTC

under merkel all germany is is a maintenance apparatus

2018-05-17 15:02:22 UTC

"weiter so"
