That dog I had that didn't like me, supposedly because I looked like a previous owner, absolutely loved my dad. To the point where he'd whine and cry and yelp if he got out of belly scratching distance from my dad but he could still see him.

My parents' current dog is a chihuahua. You know how those are like. They have a tiny circle of people they like and everyone, and everything, else is automatically ***THE ENEMY*** without any regard to how horribly outmatched they are against people and dogs many times their size. Even most cats are bigger. They sometimes leave for a week or so to do something and have me watch it. I slowly got a place on that trusted list and the dog will trust me, get under the covers for warmth and such. But only when alone. When they're all there, prefers my dad because he's warmer. And my dad hates tiny dogs.

Does typical chihuahua things with food. If you give him too much food he'll take it somewhere else hidden to eat it. If he doesn't think he can eat it all at once, or isn't sure he completely likes it, he'll bury it.

And being indoors that means stuffing it into a couch, putting it under laundry. Anywhere with something soft.

He once decided to angrily bark at a mother cat that was standing guard in front of its den that hadi ts kittens.

The cat was not amused.

The cat was also twice his size and angrily swiped at him. It wasn't even close. It was her "get the hell away" warning, not an actual attack. But the dog still squeeled in terror. Then went right back for seconds and the cat did it again.

He challenged a great dane once. The dane was gentle and trained and would never hurt anyone or anything so he just looked all confused and unsure what to do. He easily could have fit the whole tiny dog in his mouth.

That's chihuahuas for you. Insanely overconfident and aggressive.

It's super important to keep chihuahuas leashed because they'll chase anything without regard to the danger and will frequently run across busy roads. They're not like larger breeds that can be trained. Toy breeds are a lot harder because they were not bred for that. They were bred to be cute and tiny, not obediant and easily trained.
