I don't really do much demanding stuff apart from compiling so I have a good CPU and a really shit gpu
unironically installed gentoo
I used to
I use openbsd now but I still compile stuff sometimes
so apparently refresh rate has nothing to do with the panel and everything to do with the controller
Lg 27ud58-b for cheap 4k ips
and some turbo nerd made a monitor that does 4k@120hz with 2 DP cables then 240hz@1080p and like 500000hz at 900p
tl;dr the monitor companies treat us like goyim
refresh rate does have stuff to do with the panel too
i dont think a LCD can have a refresh rate
its just like
pixels and stuff maaaan
idk just parroting some anon in the 144hz thread that was up yesterday
@Deleted User yeah, I was planning on getting this one, it looks perfect
@Deleted User i would go nice 1440p IPS 60hz for browsing and native 1440p vidya for stuff like RPGs
l0l
I am currently on a 1280x1024 panel with terrible colours
click
pls halp
dude really
i have better monitors in my closet from goodwill that i got for $20
1080p monitors have been regularly going on sale at $90 since 2011
fml
I think I will just go straight to 4k
your retinas tho
@transience can you generate a new alias for me, i need to change my shit on twitter

<:thonk:288060975775612929>
It will be beautiful, yes.
i used a 1280x1024 from 2003 to ~2007
and it was hell even then
2006 battle station AMA
@dappleface when?
i-is that your computer
I only have it because I just switched from a shitty laptop to a PC and didn't want to buy a new monitor, so I just took one out of my dads cupboard
o
my problem with 4k is that the sizes that are cheap, 27 and 28" look just fine at 1440p and 1440p vidya is realistic on modern hardware
Everything else in my setup is modern
but the really nice 30"+ 4k monitors are too expensive and thats where the resolution would really shine
Maybe try using 28" without scaling
It could work maybe
theres a new 40" 4k panel being used in a few monitors
thats the same ppi as 1080 at 23"
would be ridiculous
>40" monitor
it would just look like a 40" "1080p" monitor
sorry 43 inches http://www.viewsonic.com/us/vx4380-4k.html
I like having high DPI, and I don't have much problems since scaling in X is not that bad, and I use mostly CLI programs
high dpi is really nice for text
Not on windows ๐
i have [email protected]" on my laptop and text is gorgeous on it
yeah i use arch on it
>arch
<:thvnk:332928260004642827>
i like yaourt
and AUR
I used the AUR manually
only reason i use it over some boring distro
makepkg -i
plus thats the main difference between distros to me, package manager
it's still just linux
i want to try void though, its blowing up in popularity
yeah, systemd is bloat
Just realized making a knockoff of an Inwin D-frame wouldn't be too hard at all
I find the concept retarded but it does look neat
