One of these days, the world is gonna find out just how tolerant my country's been ๐
During the search, Manuel Fernandez, a 60 year-old male resident of Agua Dulce was arrested for being a felon in possession of firearms and a felon in possession of ammunition. At the residence, 432 firearms were seized during the service of the search warrant.
The first warrant led investigators to second location connected to suspect Fernandez. The second warrant, served in the 34900 block of Sweetwater Drive, Agua Dulce, resulted in the seizure of 30 illegal firearms possessed by a female associate. The female suspect was not home at the time of the warrant service and has not returned to the location. Detectives are preparing charges for the District Attorney for filing consideration.
"The Summer Enforcement Team was funded by the Board of Supervisors for operations like this with a beneficial impact on public safety for our unincorporated communities throughout the summer months,โ stated Supervisor Kathryn Barger, representing Los Angeles Countyโs 5th District. โI applaud the Palmdale Sheriff's station, the City's Partners Against Crime and the Department of Justice who worked in conjunction on this effective operation and massive seizure of illegal firearms."
A follow-up warrant to the residence of Manuel Fernandez on June 15, 2018, led to the seizure of an additional 91 firearms that were hidden within the home. Detectives also seized computers, cellphones, and hard drives from the residence believed to be involved in the illicit purchase of firearms by the suspect.
Due to the large number of firearms recovered, detectives enlisted the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) for tracing the purchase origination of the weapons. Agents from both the California Department of Justice and ATF will be providing resources as the case continues through the court process.
โThis case is a testament to the communityโs involvement in reducing crime and taking guns out of the hands of criminals,โ said Sheriff Jim McDonnell. โThe swift response of our Palmdale Sheriffโs Station personnel and the assistance provided by our partners at the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms showed the positive result of our campaign โSee Something, Say Something.โ We are proud of the relationship we have built in the Antelope Valley area as we continue to build trust with the communities we serve.โ
Good morning crew!
How is everyone this morning?
Good morning @Axiom.moixa๐ How are you ?
Far from ground zero in the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration along the southern border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection checkpoints on highways in Maine and New Hampshire are catching the eye of civil liberties groups.
On Interstate 95 near the remote northern Maine town of Lincoln last week, the Border Patrol said it made nine drug seizures and two arrests for immigration violations during an 11-hour checkpoint operation in which agents asked motorists about their place of birth and citizenship status.
The federal agency โ one of several at the center of a growing humanitarian crisis involving 2,300 children separated from their parents at the Mexico border โ said in a statement that Wednesday's checkpoint in Maine was "a means of preventing smuggling organizations from exploiting existing transportation systems to travel to the interior of the United States."
Customs and Border Protection says the U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed the agency's ability to ask motorists' citizenship status, even if they have no suspicion. Agents use training and questions to make decisions about a traveler's citizenship or residency, it said.
Travelers have the right to remain silent," it said in a statement. "Travelers who cooperate are passed through quickly, unless the agent suspects they are in violation of federal law. Travelers who refuse to cooperate may be referred to a secondary examination area to allow agents to conduct additional questioning to determine the traveler's citizenship or residency."
Armed with search authority to conduct immigration checks within a "reasonable distance" of 100 air miles from U.S. land borders and coastlines, the Border Patrol also set up a checkpoint last weekend on Interstate 93 near Woodstock, New Hampshire.
The June 15-17 operation resulted in the arrests of five undocumented immigrants from Brazil, China, Ecuador, El Salvador and Mexico as well as the seizure of drugs, according to Customs and Border Protection.
The American Civil Liberties of New Hamphire has said there have been a handful of Border Patrol checkpoints on I-93 in Woodstock โ about 90 miles from the Canadian border โ since last summer, WMUR-TV reported. There had been no such checkpoints there in more than five years.
"Immigration police in this country are emboldened," Gilles Bissonette, legal director of the ACLU of New Hampshire, said in statement after 17 people were arrested during a Memorial Day weekend operation. "We're seeing it not only nationally, but right here in New Hampshire."
The actions of the federal agency in the area also came under scrutiny earlier this month when a Maine bus company employee told a group of passengers they had to be U.S. citizens to ride a bus. A Border Patrol agency had inquired about the citizenship of the passengers.
The ACLU in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont filed suit in May against U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, seeking records on Border Patrol checkpoints and bus raids, ICE arrests at courthouses and what it said were the targeted arrests of immigrants' rights activists.
"New England residents have a right to know what federal agents are doing in their communities and to demand accountability for their actions," ACLU Vermont staff attorney Lia Ernst said in a statement at the time.
The bus incident, which happened on Memorial Day in Bangor, was captured in cell phone video recorded by a Massachusetts man, Alec Larson. He was asked about his citizenship at the bus terminal as he and his girlfriend were boarding a Concord Coach Lines bus for the trip home to Boston.
Hello @Kathryn44
The bus employee was mistaken, an executive with Concord Coach Lines said later.
Border Patrol can ask you if you're a citizen of the United States, but, depending on the situation, you don't have to answer the question, according to the ACLU.
Two-thirds of the U.S. lives inside this so-called 100-mile border zone, which includes many major cities and several entire states, including Florida, Michigan, Maine and Hawaii, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Border Patrol checks within the 100-mile zone are getting more attention lately as the Trump administration ratchets up its crackdown on illegal immigration.
Larson's video was widely circulated online after a Facebook post from the ACLU of New Hampshire in which Bissonnette blasted the agents' actions.
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A 6-year-old Costa Rican boy

was rescued by U.S. Border Patrol agents after he was abandoned on a border road in Arizona on Tuesday evening.
The agents discovered the boy just north of the border west of Lukeville in temperatures over 100 degrees.
The child claimed that he was dropped off by "his uncle" and that Border Patrol would pick him up. Agents say the boy said he was on his way to see his mother in the U.S.
When will Q Drop the hammer???
They say that the child was found in good condition. He was taken to Tucson to be checked out and processed. It was unclear what would happen to him next.

The Border Patrol says the incident highlights the dangers faced by migrants at the hands of smugglers. Children in particular are extremely vulnerable, not only to exploitation, but also to the elements in the environment.
They added that Arizonaโs desert "is a merciless environment for those unprepared for its remote, harsh terrain and unpredictable weather."
The acting deputy Secretary of Homeland Security warned employees Saturday that โthere may be a heightened threatโ against them, according to the memo obtained by CBS News. The memo comes amid the increasing furor over the Trump administrationโs โzero toleranceโ immigration policy.
โThis assessment is based on specific and credible threats that have been levied against certain DHS employees and a sharp increase in the overall number of general threats against DHS employees โ although the veracity of each threat varies,โ says the message from Claire M. Grady. โIn addition, over the last few days, thousands of employees have had their personally identifiable information publically released on social media.โ
Hammer is coming...Trust the plan
The memo recommends numerous safety precautions, including not displaying work badge in public, be careful with public conversations and using caution on all social networks. It also recommends DHS employees โalways keep doors and windows lockedโ and โbe aware of unexpected changes in and around your home.โ
DHS employees are encouraged to call 911 if they feel threatened and if local law enforcement doesnโt respond, to call Federal Protective Service.
Grady says she is โeternally gratefulโ for all the work DHS employees have been putting in, but โthere are those who misconstrue your work in a negative way or seek to disrupt your work to advance outside agenda.โ

The Trump administration enacted a โzero toleranceโ policy against undocumented immigrants entering the country in April, detaining parents and placing children in government-contracted shelters. Earlier this week amid intense backlash, President Trump signed an executive order temporarily suspending family separation but said โzero toleranceโ is here to stay. The coverage of the controversy has dominated the news for over a week.
On Thursday, WikiLeaks published a database identifying more than 9,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees, according to The Washington Post. According to the Post, the database included information such as employeesโ publicly available personal information and job history scraped from LinkedIn and their LinkedIn profile pictures and information on their educational background and the city and state in which theyโre based.

As anger over the issue has grown, protesters on Tuesday disrupted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsenโs dinner at a Mexican restaurant. On Friday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant in Virginia. The owner told The Washington Post she asked Sanders and her party to leave because โthis feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.โ
There were protests held nationwide Saturday over immigration as elected officials demanded access to the shelters where children are being held.
Late Saturday, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement that 522 children had been reunited with their families. Those children were in the custody of Customs and Border Protection.
HHS said that as of June 20, 2,053 separated minors were in the custody of HHS. HHS said it is โworking with relevant agency partners to foster communications and work towards reuniting every minor and every parent or guardian via well-established reunification processes

GENEVA (AP) โ The U.N. refugee agency reported Tuesday that nearly 69 million people who have fled war, violence and persecution were forcibly displaced last year, a record for the fifth straight year.
The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said the continued crises in places like South Sudan and Congo, as well as the exodus of Muslim Rohingya from Myanmar that started last year, raised the overall figure of forced displacements in 2017 to 68.5 million.
Of that total, 16.2 million were newly displaced last year โ an average of more than 44,000 people per day. Most have been displaced for longer than that, some forced to flee multiple times.
"The global figure has gone up again by a couple of million," said the High Commissioner, Filippo Grandi. "This is because of protracted conflicts and lack of solutions for those conflicts that continue, continuous pressure on civilians in countries of conflict that pushed them to leave their homes and new or aggravating crises, like the Rohingya crisis."
For the fourth year running, Turkey was again the country with the largest number of refugees โ mostly Syrians โ at 3.5 million at the end of 2017. The United States received the most new individual applications for asylum last year, at nearly 332,000. Germany was second at more than 198,000.
But UNHCR, Grandi's agency, said the figures debunked the flawed perception among some that a refugee crisis has affected more developed countries in the "Global North." It said 85 percent of refugees are in developing countries, many of them "desperately poor."
"It should be an element dispelling the perception, the notion that is so prevailing in many countries: That the refugee crisis โ singular โ is a crisis of the rich world," Grandi said. "It is not. It continues to be a crisis mostly of the poor world."
Jan Egeland, secretary-general of the Norwegian Refugee Council who once headed the U.N. humanitarian aid agency, said cooperation between countries and diplomacy for peace were in "deep crisis."
International responsibility-sharing for displaced people has utterly collapsed. Rich countries are building walls against families fleeing war, at the same time as less money is available for aid to people in conflict areas," Egeland said. He said leaders in many countries are invoking border closures in Europe to carry out their own exclusion policies.
"We have to end this race to the bottom, and rather let us be inspired by generous recipient countries like Uganda, where vulnerable refugees are being protected," he said.
The UN is trying to destroy western countries with poor
