Chicago and state officials released a plan Friday to carry out far-reaching police reforms under federal court supervision more than a year after a U.S. Justice Department investigation found a longstanding history of civil rights violations by the police department.

ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) โ Two Georgia police officers who used a simulated coin toss to decide whether to arrest a woman during a traffic stop have been fired.
Roswell city spokeswoman Julie Brechbill tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Courtney Brown and Kristee Wilson were fired Thursday, weeks after video of the April stop surfaced. The officers had been on administrative leave.
The footage showed them using a cellphone app mimicking a coin toss to decide whether to arrest Sarah Webb, whoโd been pulled over for speeding. The decision to flip the virtual coin was made after Brown discovered her radar gun wasnโt working. Although the result of the toss indicated Webb should be released, she was arrested anyway.

Charges against Webb were later dropped.
Roswell Mayor Lori Henry called the officersโ behavior โinexcusable and unprofessional.โ
A U.S. Postal Service employee from Inglewood and his half-brother pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged burglary and multiple armed robberies of mail trucks โ crimes resulting in nearly $240,000 in cash being stolen, the Department of Justice announced Friday.
William Crosby, the employee, knew when mail trucks were transporting cash from money order and merchandise sales because he used to work as a supervisor, according to federal prosecutors. That information is not known to all Postal Service employees, a indictment in the case states.

A shocking video going viral on social media shows an argument at a McDonaldโs quickly turning into a beating of a customer.
Nevada resident Marie Dayag, who first uploaded the video to Instagram, captioned the video: "So this happened at McDonald'sโฆ the lady asked for a water cup and supervisor shut down the soda machine because she wasnโt letting her get a free soda."
In the video, a female customer is seen throwing what looks like a milkshake then a tray, at an employee.
The employee then goes around the counter and starts throwing punches.
She then picks the woman up and throws her over a nearby table as other employees and a customer try to break it all up.
After a quick pause, the beatdown continues and the employee throws the woman over another table before the video ends.
It is unclear which McDonaldโs branch the fight took place in, but at least one report suggested Las Vegas.

CAPTAIN COOK, Hawaii (CNN) -- A murder suspect in Hawaii was mistakenly allowed to walk out of jail.
Brian Smith was released on Tuesday, but he turned himself into police Thursday night.
Officials are investigating what led to the mistake.
Police say a little after 11 p.m., Brian Lee Smith called them from a business in Captain Cook, saying he wanted to turn himself in.
Smith is accused of shooting and killing mango picker Thomas Ballesteros Jr. in South Konda in June.
Smith was accidentally released on Tuesday.
"On behalf of the Hawaii Community Correctional Center, and the Department of Public Safety, I want to express our deepest regrets for the undue duress, our error caused the Hawaii Island community as it endured this situation," said Nolan Espinda, Hawaii Public Safety Director.
The mistake caused the second manhunt in a week for Hawaii County police officers, who are still coping the loss of Officer Bronson Kaliloa.
"The HPD stepped up in this crisis even while working through their own period of mourning," said Espinda.
The public safety director said he couldn't elaborate on the details about the mistake, saying it's too early in the investigation.
But court records indicate public safety workers may have thought a court document transferring the case to another court was a release order.
That same thing happened in February when Anthony Louis Glover, the suspect in a knife-wielding bank robbery, was also released.
He was found and arrested a few days later.
Espinda refused to talk about that prior case.
The governor was also grilled about how long it takes his departments to warn the public of threats like in the case of confessed killer Randall Saito who escaped from the state's mental hospital.
We continue to look at the needs of our community and we have prioritized the health and safety of our community amongst the highest priorities that we have and we will continue to advocate for those investments," said Gov. David Ige (D-Hawaii).
So far, no one has been disciplined for the mistake.
@retiredDep It's all YOUR fault
@trusty rusty โ yep I closed my eyes and opened the door. Lol
