A Laguna Hills attorney who has been practicing law for almost three decades was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman, authorities announced Wednesday.

The accused Russian spy who infiltrated Republican politics used a life "predicated on deception" while she attempted to exchange sex for political access and communicated with Russian intelligence during her years in America, prosecutors said Wednesday.

While posing as a graduate student, Mariia Butina, 29, also known as Maria Butina, used state-sponsored spies in Russia for guidance and oligarchs for support and funding, and exchanged sex with an American for political access, prosecutors added. She pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in federal court in Washington on Wednesday. She will be jailed without bond until her trial, after a judge found the risk too great that she could flee back to Russia.

Officials on Wednesday identified the woman whose remains were found last week in a trash can partially filled with cement in Victorville.

Investigators believe Judith Ornelas, a 47-year-old Victorville resident, had been deceased for more than a year before her skeletal remains were discovered by a K-9 detection dog, the San Bernardino County Sheriffโ€™s Department stated in a news release.

The Sacramento Bee has been evacuated due to a suspicious package.

A bomb squad arrived just before 9:00 a.m.

The street in front of the Sacramento Bee is blocked off by police.

Authorities say the investigation is still in the early stages, but have expanded the perimeter around the building. Just in case the package is dangerous, they want to keep the public out of the line of fire.

Witnesses say the "package" doesn't look like something that would come through the mail. It looked more like a backpack, witnesses said. A security guard says someone dropped the bag off and called police.

Why is no one talking about the $400 million dollars Russia gave to Hillary Clinton's campaign ??? Russian President Vladimir Putin offered a novel idea to advance the Russia investigation during a joint news conference with President Donald Trump in Helsinki. Special Counsel Robert Muellerโ€™s team could come to his country, Putin said, if Russian investigators were allowed to go the United States to dig into alleged tax evasion by American-born financier Bill Browder (non citizen) and his associates. "Business associates of Mr. Browder have earned over 1.5 billion dollars in Russia," Putin said through a translator. They never paid taxes.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Three employees were shot during a bank robbery in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth Thursday morning.

Fort Worth Police Departmentโ€™s Officer Chris Britt said it happened around 9:20 a.m. at the Veritex Community Bank on Merrick Street.

According to preliminary reports, at least two men walked into the bank with weapons and fired shots.

Three of the bankโ€™s female employees were shot. All were taken to area hospitals in serious condition. Their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening, according to MedStar officials.

Britt said officers are still searching for the gunmen in the area. He did not have a description of them and said itโ€™s not yet clear if they got away on foot or in a car.

"If anybody in the area saw anything unusual, vehicles leaving the scene quickly that now hearing about this seems odd, if they were any people running from the area that seems odd... if you saw anything that might seem unusual, please give us a call," he said.

The FBI and other federal groups are helping with the investigation. Police also plan to review surveillance video from inside the bank.

One resident who lives in Arlington Heights described it as a very old and quiet neighborhood.

"There are a lot of businesses and a lot of residences mixed together so as far as I know, this is very unusual for there to be a shooting here. But there is a lot of petty crime in the area as there is all over the city and the county," said Brent Hyder, who lives in Arlington Heights.

He called the shooting appalling.

"I'm really sad for those ladies. That's just unconscionable," he said.

Veritex's Merrick Street branch is closed for the day, the bank said on its website.

Manhunt continues for man considered 'dangerous' in Geneseo
Police continue to search in Geneseo Thursday morning for a man they believe to be "armed and dangerous" and under the impression that if he was apprehended, a federal warrant would send him back to prison for life.

Police continue to search in Geneseo Thursday morning for a man they believe to be "armed and dangerous" and under the impression that if he was apprehended, a federal warrant would send him back to prison for life.

Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty said a Geneseo police officer made a traffic stop for a "simple traffic law violation" at 5:47 p.m. on Route 63, near Dewey Hill. Inside the car with North Carolina plates, were a man, who was later identified as David Clyde Morgan, 49, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and a woman he is in a "romantic relationship" with, Dougherty said.

"His history is violent," Dougherty said. "He has served prison time."

According to federal records, Morgan was indicted in 2002 in Fort Worth, Texas on a felony charge of conspiring with two other men to distribute methamphetamines. The man pleaded guilty in November 2002 and was sentenced to 17 ยฝ years in federal prison.

The man was released on parole in mid-2017 and received permission from authorities in Texas to move to the area around Wilmington, Delaware, according to documents filed in federal court.

Dougherty said the man exited the car and that the situation "escalated very quickly." It appeared that Morgan pointed a gun at the officer but did not fire the weapon.

"We believe that (Morgan) didn't fire the shot," Dougherty said. "The preliminary report is that he did point the weapon and that the Geneseo officer did fire a round back."

2018-07-19 16:42:45 UTC

Morgan and the woman both fled. The woman was apprehended a short time later, but Morgan remained at large as of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Dougherty said. He was last seen on foot on Route 63, south of Route 20A in Geneseo, Dougherty said.

Authorities searched the area overnight in what Dougherty described as "extremely difficult" conditions, but did not locate Morgan.

"I have no good location for the suspect," he said at a 8:30 a.m. news briefing in Geneseo. "We're not confident he's even still in this area."

Morgan could be on foot, he could be on someone's property or he could have left the area completely, Dougherty said.

2018-07-19 16:43:20 UTC

Dougherty on Thursday said the woman told deputies that Morgan "did believe he had a federal warrant and did believe he was going back to prison."

Several roads in an out of Geneseo, near the campus, remained closed Thursday, according to deputies. And the State University College at Geneseo canceled class and closed the campus for the day.

The university issued an alert early Thursday at the request of SUNY Geneseo President Denise Battles, stating that because the encounter occurred so close to campus, and "out of an abundance of caution," all classes and college-related activities have been canceled for the day.

University Police asked for people on campus to remain sheltered in place until further notice. Employees may delay the start of their work day, work from another location or take leave for the day, but must notify their supervisor of plans.

Deputies called for a lockdown in the area of Fall Brook for the report of a "suspect possibly armed." No one was hurt during the exchange.

The woman, Dougherty said, claimed that the handgun was not loaded, but that claim cannot be confirmed.

Morgan is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt or long-sleeve shirt.

Deputies established a perimeter that included some neighboring homes and cornfields, Dougherty said. "As you folks know, this is a rural terrain and we definitely canโ€™t say that the suspect is still here right now,โ€ Dougherty said.

"We have plenty of horsepower here," Dougherty said, noting that deputies are joined by the Geneseo Police Department, New York State Police and Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The State Police helicopter and Livingston County SWAT were both at the scene Wednesday. The woman is talking to investigators, Dougherty said. Deputies did not release the name of the woman, but said they do not believe she, like Morgan, is from the area.

Dougherty said they are trying to ascertain why this incident escalated so quickly.

2018-07-19 16:43:47 UTC

Nightfall changes things, because weโ€™re considering him armed and dangerous," Dougherty said. "We donโ€™t know...why he escalated this so quickly. So there is concern."

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - - Prosecutors say a Colorado Springs police officer has been indicted in a shooting in which no one was injured.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office said Wednesday that a grand jury voted unanimously to charge Gerald F. Bellow Jr. with attempted first-degree assault, a felony, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.

The shooting happened April 13 near the entrance to the Colorado Springs Airport, where the 53-year-old is assigned.

Details of Bellow's actions haven't been released but The Gazette says there was a hit-and-run crash and a shooting after police responded near the airport that day.

Police spokesman Lt. Howard Black says Bellow was placed on paid leave immediately after the indictment was announced.

Minors were sent with adults so that they would not be deported if they were arrested. PF says that about 30 children are illegally sent to the country each year.

The Federal Police (PF) arrested on Wednesday (18) a man responsible for sending Brazilian children and adolescents clandestinely to the United States. According to the PF, about 30 children were sent each year from 2016 to the USA.

The suspect was arrested in Ji-Paranรก (RO), in the Central Region of the state, through the 3rd phase of Operation Pirates of the Caribbean. PF also tries to arrest a second suspect who works as a coyote in the Bahamas to help take the children illegally.

According to the PF, the perpetrator sent minors to the US using the scheme known as "Cai Cai", ie, illegally entering the US with children or adolescents. The tactic is used so that these adults are not immediately deported, but that, with the policy of zero tolerance of the American immigration, implies in the separation of parents and children.

The first phase of Pirates of the Caribbean was made in January 2017, when the PF dismantled a Brazilian branch of a criminal organization that illegally transports Brazilians abroad, mainly to the United States via the Bahamas.

The PF is also seeking more information on the disappearance of 12 Brazilians in November 2016 as they attempted to cross the ocean through the Bahamas / USA. Coyotes were also ordered to seize assets to compensate for the damage done to the families of the victims. https://g1.globo.com/ro/rondonia/noticia/2018/07/18/pf-faz-operacao-para-prender-suspeito-que-envia-criancas-ilegalmente-aos-eua.ghtml

RIVERTON, Utah โ€” Less than two months after stating they intended to remain with Unified Police, the Riverton City Council called an emergency meeting Thursday morning and voted to announce their intent to withdraw.

Riverton City announced the emergency meeting Wednesday evening, and Thursday morning the council voted to withdraw from Unified Police. The vote was unanimous.

Riverton City stated back in May that they intended to remain with Unified Police even after their neighboring community of Herriman was leaving.

Unified Police provides services to various cities and unincorporated areas in Salt Lake County.

City officials cited various concerns, including the level of services received in exchange for the amount of funds provided. City leaders said it wasnโ€™t the service from the officers in their area that was the issue, but rather the details of the contract. The full audio of the meeting is available on the cityโ€™s website, here or in the player embedded below

BOISE -- More than a dozen affiliates of two local gangs have been indicted on charges of distributing methamphetamine and illegally possessing firearms, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Idaho announced Thursday.

All 13 people charged are members or associates of the Aryan Knights and Severely Violent Criminals gangs.

2018-07-19 17:08:16 UTC

Those arrested are listed below:

-Tyler James Campbell, 34, of Boise

-Jesse Everett Ford, 43, of Kuna

-Brian Cade Humphreys, 45, of Meridian

-Jeremy Caine Lyons, 40, of Meridian

-Jason Schepers, 33, of Caldwell

-Kristen Decker (aka Kristen Walz,) 39 of Boise

-Jennifer Lee Sayer, 34, of Boise

-Kimberly Ann Hale, 39, of Meridian

-John Alan Redfern, 48, of Boise

-Frank Lee Gorrell, 40, of Boise

-Angela Marie Sheldon (aka Angela Marie Junkert,) 43, of Boise

-Keith Anthony Murphy, 28, of Boise

-Cameron James Ball, 31, of Boise

The indictments were handed down July 10, but not officially announced until Thursday. Of those arrested, eleven are facing drug charges, with 13 total counts of distribution of methamphetamine and three counts of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Two people were indicted for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Redfern is the only suspect who remains at large; the other 12 are all in custody, authorities say.

U.S. Attorney Bart Davis said the indictments dealt a major blow to the Aryan Knights and Severely Violent Criminals.

"The Aryan Knights and Severely Violent Criminals were powerful prison and street gangs operating throughout Idaho," he said. "I am confident with these arrests our streets, our communities and our state are safer. I am also confident these gangs' street operations are substantially weakened."

Davis credited the indictments to the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crime Task Force, a "patchwork of badges" involving agencies on the local, state and federal level.

"They're collective efforts really do benefit law enforcement," he said "These efforts have significantly disrupted and curtailed gang activity in the Treasure Valley," he said.
